    Upper alt. bracket bushings..

Hey, I changed the belts in my 89 Shadow, and the alt./waterpump belt started squeaking pretty bad, and the squeak got louder as i drove it which was really annoying, so i put the old belt back on and its perfect again, but i want to fix this propertly... anyways after looking over everything that could cause the squeak i noticed the upper alt. bushing closest to the belts was pretty screwed up (distorted) so i went to the dodge dealer and picked up a new set of bushings only to find out their the wrong ones after pulling it apart, The ones i got fron the DD look like their from an older style (non CB) alt. bracket. The parts guy at the dealer said they don't make that bushing anymore.. Is this true?

Does anyone know the part # for the upper alt. bracket rubber bushings? It's for a 1989 Dodge Shadow 2.5L no A/C if that makes a difference.

    Thanks

    Re: Upper alt. bracket bushings..

Thanks Simon for the link... from the pic on that site those look like the same wrong bushings i got from the dealership, so maybe i have the 90 and newer style alt. bracket? If it's true that a can't get these rubber bushings anywhere i will just swap in one of my older style alt. brackets, and use the new bushings i got from the dealer. These bushings i got from the dealer don't feel like rubber they are very hard and don't flex at all.. almost like plastic.

I'm not sure but Johnny's are for all years. I would call him and ask, he usually answers the phone. I talked to him last night and ordered some cast control arm bushings, yay,

91 and newer cars had a different A/C compressor and also use a different bracket, the bushing is smaller on these. I haven't found a source for new bushings on these yet, the ones Johnny sells should fit the 85-90 cars.

    Re: Upper alt. bracket bushings..

Johnny's alternator bushings appear to be a pair of "standard" poly bushings pressed together such that they fit the bill. They are nice, since they will basically last forever. I wonder if one could do something similar for the newer style.

    Re: Upper alt. bracket bushings..

Thanks guys for the info! I found a spare alt. bracket with perfect bushings in my misc. parts collection, and i will be putting in these bushings this weekend to solve the squeaky new belt problem.

    Thanks again for the help.
