The tentative schedule said the AutoX is early Saturday morning, so if I'm even considering it, I guess we'll be there Friday.

Amen to that. Only been to Memphis once, but that was enough to know there are a lot of really rough areas there... Especially around Graceland. You go about 2 blocks any direction from there, and it gets pretty scary...

Of course, the same can be said for most big cities...

All the events are planned to be in good areas, while the road rally may weave you through parts of town you don't want to stop in or be there too late. Graceland is one of those places, but safe as long as you're not conducting business there. I personally have only been there once and don't have any intention to go back out of sheer pride. Downtown is fine in most areas where there would be commerce and everything is about 15-20 minutes from everywhere in the city.

We'll have some more updates later about what the plan will be.

Interesting. 3PM is an early start time making it difficult for us to get our program done beforehand. Working on planning now so will see what we come up with. No promises.

Microtel behind the Costco off of the Isaac Hayes. I've secured a 20 room block, but most are gone already. I could probably secure a few more. I'm currently drawing up a bracket for the big shopping cart races.

So who's going from the east coast, and what route? Caravaning?

So far it still looks like a go for me, and my brother Dan was planning on joining the trip.
We'll leave from the Raleigh area, so likely take I40 the entire way, unless there is some roadwork detour. Gmaps says 777 miles for us. Maybe this will be a good trip! Have to figure out if going to drive Mini, or tow her on a dolly.
I think she'd make the drive just fine, it's the racing 700 miles from home that has me considering otherwise.
