    Thanks!

Today was road test day for Kyle who has never driven the car.

    It was slightly stressful.

He lacks a certain subtly or finesse on clutch release while taking off. I got him to count "one Mississippi, two Mississippi" while letting off the clutch and it helped a lot.

Painted and installed the last piece of side trim, adjusted the tie rod ends so the steering wheel was centered. Brakes seem fine if warped a bit. The damn sway bar bushings from rock auto popped out! Set up a return and will try a different brand.

I tried Moog bushings on my Neon. I previously thought Moog were the best.
Well they fell out so I got real Mopar bushings from the dealer. So far the Mopar bushings have held up fine.

After a long motorcycle ride with the Mrs. came home and poked around the garage for a bit. Installed the hidden antenna, installed the missing trim piece for the r/f fender and a few other odds and ends. Only things we are waiting on now is the new swaybar bushings, blue trim tape and half round trim for the front and rear bumpers.

My work here is pretty much complete, the car is turn key.

Now lets see what he does with it.

Actually one side of the car has tint (and the back window) and the other does not. Going to strip the rest of the tint off so local police give no issue. They are very touchy about tint in CT. Wheels he has not said anything about of late.

His brother is getting spun up as he finally got his license on Friday, we will be working on his Shadow a little bit today while I'm working on mine.

The half round trim came in for the bumper covers the other day, the Shelby blue tape should be some time next week. RockAuto still has not issued a credit for the sway bar bushings.

Kyle did a fine job swapping out the tach board, all working again.

Moved the car for him this morning so he can get it a good scrubbing and get all the mold/fungus out of the nooks and crannies around the trim, wing, moldings etc. Took a few shots showing the front air dam in better light, it came out ok.

Sometimes its the little things that make the car.

CSX 561 had its bumper covers replaced at one time with aftermarket units which were missing the center trim. The spots were there but it was never installed. After careful measuring I ordered 20 feet of black half round 3/8 trim protection from Ebay along with 12 mm blue trim tape from China. The tape arrived today and after a quick wipe down with degreaser installed the half round trim and then the blue tape. Installation was a snap and I think it sets off the car great, perfect match too.

    Re: 87 CSX number 561

Kyle popped in the swaybar bushings finally yesterday while I was working on the GTX and we investigated a possible oil leak on his CSX. Cleaned everything down and ran it for awhile. Might have just been residue from when the power steering line let go. He then practiced driving it around the parking lot next store and then we took my CSX out and he did practice laps around the high school for a half hour. Getting better!

Update- CSX is plated and on the road!

Minor issues considering the scope of the project and hodge podge of parts in the mix. Alternator died (no doubt due too long cycles of sitting and then being run to charge back up) second alternator died after a day, bad stator. Lifetime alternator from Autozone so far working good. Had a fuel leak, changed hard lines under hood. New GTC rotors and pads. New front tires. Minor coolant leak (clamps) clamp for mitsu turbo decided to check out one day, pulled one off a spare turbo.

Installed a 1 din AM/FM/MP3 player to replace the Sony CD player.

He needs to get off his butt and do an alignment and get brake cables but the car is doing great, very reliable and no leaks.

10 over the limit on ticket, claims to have been going 15.

Not sure if overly enthusiastic cop or he was doing better than 15 over. I blast through the area all the time as does everyone else at a good clip.

Maybe the difference is I know where all the speed traps are, lol
