Picked up the trans for the black car today, gonna try and install it this week, already have it under the car on the jack. Probably pick up ATF+4 and a cooler for it tomorrow.
Something I just thought of, the TCM has it's own diagnostic plug that is different from the engine DRB plug, so we'll need to come up with a TCM flash cable also.
BTW, are we thinking standalone ability or are we dead without the stock ECU? I thought one of the good points of the older TCM is no canbus and therefore it gets its own signals.

It's not possible for a non-turbo car with a stock converter to ever hit that number. It has been a problem in other communities like 2gnt DSMs that were turboed etc.I *think* if the brakes are applied it won't do that. It's been so long I can't remember if I ever did that or had an issue with it. My normal launch rpm was only ~2500 or so.

If it worked with that Haltech in the old daytona i dont see why we couldn't do it again. I thought that was the whole attraction of the 89/early tcm?

Picked up another test mule this week, a '93 Lebaron vert w/ a 3.0/A604 combo. I'm up to 3 A604 equipped vehicles now lol. Gonna buy the flash/log cable this week so I program the flashable SBEC1 in the black Daytona, and hopefully finish the trans install this weekend. Need to swap the TPS on the van I think, then it and the Daytona will be ready to try trans tuning on. Vert just needs head gaskets and it should be ready also.
If the TCM has to be flashed through the TCM diagnostic plug, maybe an adapter can be made to be used with the currently available PCM flash/logging cable?
What year is that diagnostic book from? That may tell a story as to why it is describing the operation that way. Look at the wiring diagram of an early A604 car. The necessary feeds are all there.
The book is dated 1997
That makes sense as to why it says what it does.
Not sure if it will help, but I pulled the complete underhood harness with the TCM, solenoid pack, and SBEC from the '93 Lebaron I mentioned earlier (trans and engine were both bad so I junked it). My thought was that maybe the TCM/PCM harness could be stripped out as a standalone setup that could be powered up on a bench, so you could see what info is transferred back and forth from it with MPScan or a scanner. Might be helpful in figuring out the last bit of code.

I don't know if it helps, but I now have access to Chrysler TechAuthority, a DRB3, and a StarScan.

posted below a link to an updated disassembly that works in mptune based off of the 89 tcm shelgame had done earlier. all i did was add an additional table type as well as further break out as much additional code as i could. i'll need to post up a newer version of mptune.
