    knock sensor dead ?

I was trying to log my knock sensor in MP Scan
'89 SMEC Ostrich with SCI-USB cable (TI layout for MP Scan)

I was logging KNKV (Knock Volts) and KNTHR (Knock Threshold)
Noticed that my Knock Volts stayed at .02 volts no matter what RPM or Boost level I was at
so I'm assuming this is a dead knock sensor

    also:
is this the best way to log for knock ?
compare knock volts to knock threshold ?

Knock Volts should go up with RPM at least. So even in park, you should get *something* when revving to high rpm. Try swapping out the knock sensor and re-test.
Having actual knock is when the knock volts is > than the knock threshold. Knock threshold is voltage vs RPM. Some calibrations change the knock threshold table.

Make sure the plug on the sensor is correct. On the super 60 harnesses the engine side of the connector was on the opposite pin in the plug. It never saw any knock that way...

Super 60 ECU doesn't use knock sensor nor o2 sensor.

yes the knock volts increases with load/rpm. log the 4 cyl knock retards in addition to knock volts. RET1-RET4. that will tell you what cyl is knocking reliably.

    that's what I thought
I believe even tapping on the intake while it's running should produce something
I'll have to swap it out and see what happens, hopefully it's not in the harness but it's only one wire so no big deal anyway

this was a '89 Lancer harness I combined for Hoagie 20 years ago with an '88 Omni dash harness

I've heard that , and if I'm looking at the file correctly , it looks like they just maxed the threshold value so it'll never trigger knock

    cool , that's what I was thinking
I did see the RET1-4 , guess that would be helpful too , If I get knock , I'll know where it's coming from
I was trying not to clutter up what I was datalogging , but that export as CSV file really helps
