There should be some information displayed that might be helpful to diagnose this. It is available from the Setup screen. Click Info.
    Post a picture of this.
Try first what you were doing, then look at this Info screen.
There also might be a error file saved on MPScanDroid if you try what you are trying to do through that.

Where does mpscandriod save the error log file? Do you have to have the default ecu set to lm if you are using it in an lm car, or can you just select the profile for the lm car that was created when lm was selected to make the layout? I didn't switch it over tonight when we took a drive, but I know I originally created the layout and profile correctly.

It is probably best to set the default ECU to the one you are working with. But I "think" that might only matter for building layouts, flashing, and the diagnostic tests.

But, there is no harm in trying.

The error file should end up saved in the same Logs folder.

See pic for the path on my phone.
There's also the eculog.txt with some info.

The only time it made a log was from the 6th. I'll try it again today with the lm selected as the default.

It wouldn't pair today when I had the lm set as default. I don't think it was pairing before, but now it knows it.

It wouldn't pair today when I had the lm set as default. I don't think it was pairing before, but now it knows it. There was no error log for the event. I'll try to make better note of the error message it sent when I get in the car next.

I am pretty sure the diagnostics weren't added until the SMEC came out. The OTC doesn't have any diagnostic options when connected to an 87 LM but it does when connected to a SMEC or later.

Thanks for that insight. Now to figure out how to get it to connect...

Cool so are you able to make a SCI to CAN adapter? If so let's work together

    Re: MPSciLink

Can someone direct me to where I may be able to find the MPSciLNK.tft file?

My unit was part of the first purchase runs, it never communicated with my computer. Wayne was gracious enough to spend a couple hours trying to diagnose it but also came up empty handed. It sat on the shelf until this weekend; magically it works on my new computer.

So I'm following the directions here: https://sites.google.com/site/mpscil...tructions-tips

I get to this part and I get an error message when clicking both of these buttons in scandroid.
Be sure to go to Misc/Nextion tasks/ and select download Lst file to Droid
From the same screen Download Nextion Layout to Droid, select your Nextion Display size

I noticed that this same step is included in the sideloading the display update instructions so I figured it would be worth a shot to try it that way. ( https://sites.google.com/site/mpscil...display-update ) but it starts out with putting this file on an SD card. I may be blind or and just not looking in the right places for the file. Anyone know where to find it?

    Re: MPSciLink

    86Shelby,
So when you download the display file it will save it to the SD card on the MPSciLink.
You can then remove the SD card and side load the display.

The file needs to be in the root directory of the card. Side loading a SD card into the display has it look for a .tft file on power up. If there's a file, it will start an installation.

It's been years now since I've had to go through the process, and I'm currently out of the country. But I have validated my instructions in the how to section. If something is still not working there might be another snag somewhere with your setup.
I'll try to look through your issues again.

    Ray,
Can you contact me via messenger?
I took a screen recording for you but I can't post here.
