    Re: MPSciLink

Here's a video showing the 3.5" HMI touchscreen display with my list of gauges from the .mpc loaded in. There is a 2nd page so you'll notice a down arrow in the upper right.
This was testing a know voltage as one of the analog inputs, and it is the EGT reading on the screen. When removing the battery, you can see the circuit had some capacitance, as the reading drops slowly.

Oh, I'm so in! Where do I send the order form? I'm in for a DIY kit, arduino clone, 3.5 screen.
I'd rather a complete kit, but I want to see how hard it is and provide build notes, do and don'ts

i'll set up my bench unit and reshoot some vids using the v2 board. there were also some updates on how the analog readings were being calculated to help "smooth" them out

Would it be possible to wire this to the input of a touch screen radio as opposed to a separate display?

Thanks Morris. I planned to get more video but was waiting for the analog readings to be refined and, now i don't have the car or the device!

For now, just hold on to it. You are accounted for in the thread.
There could be a small snag on the displays, especially the larger ones.
And it is National Day holiday over there, so I'm waiting on my ordered test display. And the US distributor hasn't answered my questions yet (likely because they need to ask the main office in China).

no, the nextion screens have their own processors which do all the hard work in displaying the graphics/fonts. they also have the real time clock built into them. the interface is a basic serial interface, i.e. tx/rx/gnd/5v pwr and communicates with the arduino via a proprietary protocol.

I am by no means an electrical engineer, but how hard would it be to add an FM tuner board and audio processor and have the display do the MPSciLink stuff in addition to being a car stereo? Something similar to what was done here (http://www.retrojdm.com/ArduinoCarStereo.asp)

I planned on doing a Pi with a touchscreen and FM receiver, but I'd prefer to tie it all into the same display if I can.

    Re: MPSciLink

the nextion boards are very capable and it would be relatively simple to design a screen page to mimic the layout of a tuner. the issue becomes adding cost and complexity to the arduino. the arduino already is almost at it's max as far as memory (due to the serial buffers needed to handle logging/sdcard writes), so it might be tough adding the additional routines in for the radio. my goal is that the new esp32 chip/software will stablize within the next year which has incredible capabilities vs the arduino at a similar (if not cheaper) price point.

I wouldn't expect you to add this to the standard MPSciLink, I was thinking more of a one off for me. I'll PM you to get your opinion instead of clogging up the thread.

I have a decent product information brochure, (or at least i think so).
It is still a working copy, but it is close. A pdf version will be posted after the final edits.

Edit: Product information can be found here:

    Re: MPSciLink

I have a few pictures of the MPSciLink, v2 board, with Arduino Mega, and the 3.5" touchscreen.
This is pretty much the complete unit you will receive when you order the "assembled device" (assembled mpscilink board v2), with the optional mega clone, and the optional 3.5" touchscreen display.

I'll try to get some pics with the 7" display attached as soon as we have a layout file for the upsized screen.

Here's a pic of a remote mount 5" Nextion touchscreen in a cellphone holder (mounted in a van).
The display isn't in any case yet in the pic. Going to try and get something similar to the 3.5" cases.
