My '87 P body was running well but due to my improvement to the brakes (drum to disks) my old 14" winter rims no longer fit. Ok I will buy new tires for my 15" crabs to combat the snow.

Now as soon as I picked up my car with the new tires/wheels it made a loud clicking sound when going around slow left hand turns and the frequency varied with speed. Clicked when going over bumps at times when driving straight but always when turning left. Sometimes the clicking would be louder than others. Sounded very similar to a bad CV joint but manually turning the wheel up on jacks the operation was smooth.
So what do you think??
But yesterday a clue, as I heard the same clicking sound only once just in front of the rear passanger wheel well.

The problem was a loose fuel filter hitting the thin edge of the gas tank and the sound transmitted though the body!!! WTF was my first thought!! We are now good to go.
