Marty Sabo and his brother lives in Burlington, I just met up with him for an hour last night on my way back home from Raleigh ( I live in Spartanburg SC). We're talking about maybe having a small TM meet in that area around my birthday (Dec 8). He said there are at least 5 others in that area that would meet up on short notice. He's not on here too much anymore but he frequents the L-body groups on Facebook often.

    Hey!
You were in Raleigh and didn't say anything?
I might be up for a couple hour road trip. I don't have Mini right now, though.

Yeah we were there for a few hours at the NC Museum of Art for my daughter's birthday, looking at Da Vinci's Codex and other things. I thought you lived in Winston Salem though for some reason lol.

Yeah when it warms up a bit we need to do this. Lebaron will probably be down for a while now, but I might have the Daytona going by then.

I'm interested in a meet. As long as it's on a weekend I'm game. We should set it up in March, hopefully my car will driving by then and I can lock in the day at work.

You're not too late, since we've never all tried to get together yet.
Do you know if you are going to SDAC27?

Just making sure! Some of us still use the forums, but might not FB.
I know of another guy around Raleigh or Knightdale, but can't remember his name. Has a black daytona, or Shelby.

Re: Looking for Mopar Turbo Forum members living in the Charlotte / Concord NC area.

The issue you'll have is participation and interest. The first event may have a big turn out but you'll fight to get people to continue. They aren't making these cars anymore and folks with them give up and move on to newer rides. Cars not running so folks don't show up, life happens and people come and go, interest level of folks that do stick around goes up and down etc... So you aren't going to have a bunch of members. Low member numbers means no events. We switched up to just be a Mopar club so we could get SRTs in but even they are super limited at this point.

Whoever runs it needs to have a lot of energy. I use to do the events at my home and had a pretty good turn out. I'd buy the food and spend the time cleaning up for events. Also running the club page, keeping up with members, etc... takes time and isn't paid.

There is a Texas SDAC chapter where I live now but it is in Dallas 3 1/2 hours away. It seems like they just meet at a restaurant. I am not going drive 8 hours to have lunch. The key will be to have just the right number of meets and the right type.

Re: Looking for Mopar Turbo Forum members living in the Charlotte / Concord NC area.

Much of what Kevin says is true, but it varies and I don't know what makes it vary so much. From what I hear, the two chapters with the regularly largest turnouts (every month) are Chicago and So Cal. But there are only a handful of chapters that meet every month. Great Lakes in Detroit continues to meet every month. For a few years in the mid to late 90's we met twice a month at two different locations to give everyone in the area a chance to have the meeting somewhat close to where they live. After a couple of years it was always the same folks at both meetings, so we went to once a month. At our monthly meetings now, we get, on average, 4-6 folks every month. We have two annual events both of which are going into their 20th year, and both of which are well attended. Our fall color tour continues to be very popular, with folks driving in from out of state to attend. And we have a private event at a member's home in the early spring that gets from 8-12 folks every year.

But it is still a struggle to keep interest up. Our newsletter used to be a monthly thing, but it hasn't had an article contributed to it in a few years now, so it is basically a 2 issue per year thing. We put it out just to notify members of our fall and spring events.

So I would encourage you to continue to bang the drum locally for folks to attend meets and get involved. Otherwise, you will never know what may develop.
