Nope, just weight reduction. Light as possible out back, everything back there is just getting dragged along for the ride so mass needs to be reduced as much as possible.
I do have one eye on the possibility of a "traction bar" out back one day but lets see how the car performs first.
Even the owner is going on a diet, foolish to spend hundreds to save 20 pounds when the owner is carrying around an extra 20 as well.
To be honest Wayne, this is just the continuation of plans set in motion 10 years ago, shelved and picked up again. Make the car as light as practical, bigger slicks and make more power. I was working on all three when it all went to hell. I was actually getting more HP out of Calders 2.2 than I did from the 2.5 I was running with 5 pounds less boost. Trading torque for HP. I'd had to retool my transaxle package of course but that just goes with the territory.
There have been some minor changes due to advances in turbos, cams & intakes for example and what I wish to do to the car due to what is available to me now.. but the basic plan is still the same. I have more space to work, cash to spend on parts, more advanced tools and experience.
I'm itching to get rolling.

Working on clearing the decks.
Are you going 2.2 or 2.5 this time around?
Sounds like a good plan. And that is some of my thoughts with Mini as well. There are easier ways now, which make sense for reliability and less stress on parts.
Not to say you still can't use from the old bag of tricks...

Still researching.
Looking for crank trigger, individual coil pack, charge air temp compensation, wide band O2 and possible boost control based on time/speed/brake inputs.
I want nothing EFI related running off the intermediate shaft, already bit me on the --- once and cost me a motor.

Spent the day cleaning the shop, throwing out stuff and repairing stuff- Rebuilt two jacksafts and an axle, organized some stuff for the Dart project and just doing general housecleaning. I swear stuff just breeds in the corners at times. Customer picked up his truck I worked on yesterday.

Oh. And I went to work and had my son pull the fire alarm for a second shift fire drill.

Im leery of the oilpump gear failing and it nuking a motor that way.
1fastcsx289 lost a motor by the oil pump gear failing and having a crank triggered setup, it kept running.
i guess either scenario sucks.
it would be nice to be able to have the oil pump driven by a shaft without a right angle gear setup.... or get those parts hardened somehow or create an oil jet on the gears to keep them well lubed.
