    Projection headlight in my Omni

    I bought this

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/7x6-Glass-Di...NUleZO&vxp=mtr

Mounted the ballasts, then plug everything in.

Did you do the pass side just so you won't blind other drivers? That looks like it shoots way high?

I agree it needs properly aimed. You don't want to be mistaken for a ricer.

That beam pattern is flat out dangerous.

I bought E-code housings and H4 bulbs for my Omni GLH. Really happy with them.

There be a reason real projectors and HID's cost hundreds of dollars.

+1 to that. I understand wanting better lighting, but that's NOT the way to do it. That beam pattern will blind every person coming the other way!

I'd rather spend the money on auxiliary lighting, so you can have extra lighting when you need it, like poorly lit roads and bad conditions.

Just mount rally lights and hook them up to your high beams, lol

That cutoff is atrocious. Not a true projector. Just a marketing gimmick. There is no amount of adjusting that can fix that.

You'd have to really see a pic pointing a perpendicular wall, like pulling up to a garage door on flat ground.
Its probably not as bad as folks are making it out to be.

People say you can't put hid's in regular housings, but the only person i've heard complain about mine in Mini was Alan when he got the pupil check at SDAC! (I've since readjusted them to protect your retinas next SDAC, Alan! )

That fence looked pretty perpendicular to me. It had no cut off, which is the problem. Just like throwing hids in halogen reflector housings. You can adjust them down to prevent the large central area fro. Blinding people but then you reduce the range of them. Would be like adjusting your headlights to keep from blinding people with your high beams on instead of low beams.

Re: Projection headlight in my Omni

Not only are you blinding people but you're throwing light where it doesn't need to be at all. The wasted light around the center is just as bad as the dangerous aspects of the pattern itself.

I like how they light up reflectives even if its not lighting anything else up because they are aimed down.

Re: Projection headlight in my Omni

Has anybody ever retrofitted a projector housing into an E-code H6054 housing to replace the H4 bulb? Or would that still be 'wrong'?

Re: Projection headlight in my Omni

Retrofitting a projector lens in a different housing is perfectly fine if the projector is designed for HID's. Not all of them are. I'm not sure if using the e code housing is desirable since the e code lens is what dispurses the light. I think you want a plain clear lens.

Re: Projection headlight in my Omni

Seems so. I've looked into doing the HID/projectors for my Caliber, but they are rather expensive. I'm still on original H13 bulbs and they're still fine. I think I'll eventually just get the black-out Depot headlight housings and call it a day.

As far as my Omni, I'm still happy with the eBay "Pal" Eero H6054 housing and H4 silverstar bulbs. Big upgrade over stock DOT H6054 and don't see a reason to upgrade.

Re: Projection headlight in my Omni

There is a guy on the jeep patriot forums that retrofits hid projectors for a decent price. I thought about it but I would probably just go with some high quality LED fog lights. They can be expensive but not as bad as retrofit.

Hella makes genuine E-code H4 conversions with glass lenses.
