    Car wont start, PM/ASD?

We had very heavy rain a month or so ago and the next day I went to go start my 1986 600es 2.2 turbo. The gauge lights flickered on and off and went haywire, along with the Power Module made a very loud noise. I figured the PM was the issue so I bought one from another member on here. When I went to replace the PM with the new used one the issue stopped with he lights and noise BUT now the fuel Pump doesnt get power, or prime when the key is on. I put 12vs from the battery to the Negative side of the coil and the pump runs. I went to go turn the car over while doing this it still doesnt run, i havnt checked spark but I am thinking my New used PM is bad. Are there any Fusable links or anything else I need to try before buying another PM?

    Thanks for the input,
    -Jack

I would try a spare LM. That could cause a no start.

    Re: Car wont start, PM/ASD?

after issues post rain storm I'd check the connectors on top of the LM to see if water leaked in onto them

    that alone can cause issues

also check the ground strap from the intake to the firewall is sound and not lose

if a 5 spd trans check the small grey wire running to the top of the trans under the air cleaner - if bad that wire will also cause a no start

just a couple of easy things to always check first with a no start log turbo motor - the grey wire had me beat for a week or so back when , before I noticed it had pulled outta thebterminal where it bolts to the trans

Swapped in another LM and brand new one. Connections looked good. All the fusable links under the hood are good as well as the fuses are good, still nothing. Any more ideas?

So, new PM and LM? If you jump the coil the pump runs? If that's the case, then it's really hard to say why it won't start.

Brand new pm and new used mp lm. Jumped the pump at the coil and then the pump runs. I have run out of options that I can think of

Check your connections at the PM and LM. Over time they can spread apart and it is hard to see with the naked eye. Also, check the connectors behind the battery for corrosion. Did you check the fusible links for a burnt or broken one?

    Re: Car wont start, PM/ASD?

Fusable links are good. I believe I found the issue. The main power wire from the battery to the alternator has a big white connector, I unplugged it then plugged it back in. Car fired up and ran for about 10 seconds then quit. I cleaned the terminal in the connector and now it's good, and even checked ohms while moving and wiggling it around and it was all good, but now the car won't restart. I'm thinking when I removedette the wore around I may have bumped some of the other connectors around there so I'm thinking I found the issue.
