    4 lug vs 5 lug

My 82 Charger track car has the original 4 lug wheel set up. As a super stock car, it ran high 12's and had about 300hp. The new set up going in, I'm targeting 450hp+ with the eventual goal of 600hp. I've read some stuff that said the 4 lug set up would be ok...what say you? Should I upgrade to a 5 lug set up? That would mean new wheels, slicks( which I was going to do anyway) plus obviously, all the suspension/brake pieces needed....plus eventually I would need to do the back because having them not the same would drive me crazy.....lol....thanx!

You can add Dean Stillie's rampage to the 4 bolt cars too.

I remember reading during autocross events and high g corners is where the road race teams went to 5 lug to lessen the wheel bearing failures.

I recall Warren Stramer's now 9 second Laser being 4 lug. My K car was a 4 lug car and ran consistently around 11.0-11.1 with a dip in the high 10's and was autocross end repeadly on 275 Hoosiers.

Put good studs in it and go for it.

Where do you get good wheel studs?

Chrysler switched to five lug wheels because lugs were breaking and where ls falling off while making hard corners on IMSA and SCCA tracks.
Drag racing stress was less of an issue
