    SRT-4...still recommend?

    Hey folks,

It's been a few years since I've really been around the turbo mopar cars, and I'm just about ready to unload my 'hand-me-down-after-we-got-my-wife-a-Yukon' 08 Chevy Equinox. I think I can fetch around $8500-$10k for the thing, and I'd like to get something more...turbo...more...Mopar.

So, my obvious first choice was an SRT-4.

I know a lot of you guys have had these since they were brand new, and I wanted to kind of peek in and see if they were still the cat's pajamas after a decade, or if they've proven themselves unworthy.

    Thanks!

Finding one in good shape would be the most difficult part. I'd target a Caliber SRT4 personally. I don't think as many of those found themselves in the clutches of morons. iTurbo on here speaks very highly of his, and they look fantastic.

$8500 would be enough to buy a clean non-hacked N-SRT4.

My srt4 is one of the best cars i've ever owned

    my car,
    0-100k miles.. normal stuff oil/brakes/struts
122k -- motor rebuild/built eagle weisco strap kit etc. & clutch because of the stage 3 turbo
187k -- trans rebuild due to 3rd gear popping out.. struts need to be done..

    wifes car.. probably worth $4k..
salvage title, no grinds 3rd will pop out on down shift. ... 100k.. body rough

i'd suggest getting a built car with issues and fixing it.. motor is cheap ... trans 3rd gear is expensive.. about ~1k (parts are crazy expensive)

    Neon yes, mini truck/suv no.

Scared of that 3rd gear and the whole box.
