This is my dad's car, he was driving it as a daily driver and shut it off and it would not start again.
We figured it was the fuel pump as it does not cycle when the key is turned.
Some diagnosing led me to buy a fuel pressure tester.
Here is what I know:
Cycling the key does not build any pressure.
Rolling it gives 60 psi. Sometimes it will sputter.
We have not installed the new fuel pump because it has a factory alarm (ugh).
The alarm seems to do what it is supposed to IE:
1. Set the alarm with the power lock and close the door and the security light blinks for 15 seconds and then goes off.
2. If you pull the lock manually and open a door or try to start it, the alarm engages.
3. The alarm will shut off when deactivated according to the manual by unlocking either the driver or passenger door with the key.
I don't think it is the pump as produces 60 psi while rolling, is this a correct assumption?
Though I don't understand why the pump will not cycle and produce any pressure when cycling the key. Is this a possible alarm issue?
I read somewhere that if you get it running you can remove the security module why it is running and it will not have the security system "installed" anymore, though I also know from other Mopar products you generally have to get a non-security ecm and install it without the security module attached.
Thanks in advance
