Searching for info on 86 GLHS#362

Hi guy as you know I own #373 but when the vin was checked on the "master list" it comes as #362. I am only the third owner of this almost completely original car. It is very unlikely that the original owner changed the dash plaque so I'm trying to solve this mystery.

I went back to my original copies of the Shelby VIN listing. I have two copies for the 86 GLHS. One of them (the more complete one) has #362 as the VIN ending in 276451, while #373 VIN ends in 276496.

But there is a discrepancy when I look at the less complete listing, it has #362 with VIN ending in 276496, while there is no VIN listed at all for #373. I have a note on this listing that not only is it incomplete, but it also had many errors that I discovered when compared to the later, more complete, listing.

I checked the Shelby Registry and it shows your car, #373, as belonging to Randy Hicks, whom I suppose you bought it from. Number 362 is not listed there. I was hoping that 362 would have shown an owner, who then could have been contacted to verify the VIN on that car. If indeed the two VIN's were incorrectly linked to the dash plaque numbers, it would not surprise me very much, as the record keeping at Shelby Automobiles at the time was fairly shoddy.

Yes I did buy the from Randy on boxing day last year.

I think I mentioned to you that when a friend who was looking for some A 100 seats found the GLHS he phoned me to see if I was interested. I told him my lucky number is 13 and if the numbers add up to 13 I would take it, he said it was 372 so I passed.

A couple of months later he was back to get another set of seats, looked at the car again and realized was 373!!
That adds up to 13 so I had him buy it for me and bring it back and it turned out to be better than I ever imagined.

Now, after reluctantly passing it on to you, it possibly turns out to be 362, a Rod Serling moment for sure!!

Obviously, your lucky number is 11 !!
