    Speedometer

So I am back from California, and am excited to drive the Gtp again.
Installed the new engine and a few go fast parts at the same time.

I picked up a 160 mph speedo while at rossion a while back. My speedometer has never worked. It just jumps around. I hooked up the ' new" one and same thing.

What speedo cable do these cars use ?

Not sure what cable they use, but lots of graphite grease seems to fix most of the jumping around.

While there is a short cable that runs from the trans to the pickup. The gauge is electric, it's not a grease issue. It has to do with old capacitors inside the speedo. VDO speedos are notorious for it. Same with the NOS speedo...it's just as old.

    Symptoms are:
Jumps around, reads double sometimes, symptoms can get better for a while when the gauge has had power applied to it, but usually ends up dead the longer it's run.

I know of at least 5 dead speedos in these cars

My was bad also. Bought a new VDO one. Also got the GPS unit, so mine now doesn't work the first mile then the gps finds the satellite and works. Works good now. But still need to find out why my cruz is not working.

I'm going the same route with the GPS unit. Think I'm going to put my on constant hot though, since work is only 2.5 miles away. lol
