    GoodBye to my GLHS

1986 Shelby GLHS. Bought it with 1100 miles on it April 1991.
Put a lot of miles on it as a daily driver and many autocross events and a few track days.
Won a lot of races on the track and on the street. Had it on a dyno once...260 hp.
Still, will be sad to see it go.

Stuffed to the side of the shop for 7 years with crap stuck all around it.
NEED to clean the shop and this is the first major step.
My daughter and her guy come tomorrow to get it. Trailering it home
and then going to restore it. I told her she can have it when I pass...
but decided to give it to her now.

At least it is going to a good home. I like the fact you gave it to her now. My grandma has a couple model As I am going to inherit, but right now they are just rotting. I wish I could bring them home now. Out of curiosity what was done to the GLHS to make 260hp?

18 psi computer (2-stage), forged pistons, super 70 turbo, bigger injectors, open up the intake/filter, larger exhaust, roller cam....about it.

    Change . . . . . .
    John Laing

"The sole condition which is required in order to succeed in centralizing the supreme power in a democratic community, is to love equality, or to get men to believe you love it. Thus the science of despotism, which was once so complex is simplified, and reduced . . . . to a single principle."
    -- Alexis de Tocqueville

"One of the methods used by statists to destroy capitalism consists in establishing controls that tie a given industry hand and foot, making it unable to solve its problems, then declaring that freedom has failed and stronger controls are necessary."
    --Ayn Rand

    Re: GoodBye to my GLHS

I know how you feel. I bought my 87 GLHS with 40k on the odometer and drove it for close to 20 years and put about 200k on it. It was a hoot to drive and work on. I left it at my parents house when I moved to AZ and it got forgotten. A buddy needed transportation so I let him borrow it. Changed all the fluids, belts, brakes and got it in goods shape. He proceeded to melt a piston. I looked at it when I was home and the rust was pretty bad from sitting, frame was shot. So I took off what I could and sold it to the scrap yard. #473 if I recall correctly.

Life goes on but I got my money worth out of her and she treated me pretty good.
