    mpscan trouble shooting

    I am having an issues with mpscan it keeps telling me to turn the key to make a connection with the vehicle

    i have loaded all the drivers necessary and the FTDI cable connection is visable

    but i get this error message.

    post up the mpscanport.txt and mpt2coms.txt files. might find an answer there. did you make sure you inverted the tx/rx signals using the ftprog program? the key needs to be on before you try connecting also.

    What is the grey cable connected to the ftdi from boosted button? Would that cause the issue ?

    in mpscan go to help / computer info. the location is shown in the user directory box.

    The gray cable?

    The USB should (obviously) be plugged into a computer. The other end of the cable goes to the SCI connector under the hood. Since you seem to be trying to connect a SMEC, the 'extra' wire coming off the SCI end just needs to be tapped back. It's only used for the flashing the SBEC.

    Turned the car key on position, turned on laptop, plugged cable into diagnostic port, plugged into laptop, tried to press record and I got the same issue as posted in original post

    Try using the 'SMEC T2' communications setup.

    I believe FWD's SMEC cals are all based on the T2 code. The baud rates are different in the T2 (it's really a DRB-I system) than the T1 SMEC and later SBEC's. That's most likely why MP Scan can't connect to the car.

    Thanks Rob I'll create a new layout and hook it up using the smect2 and let you know how it goes

    is there any reason when i go to create a new layout under smec t2 it wont let me choose from the gauges all i get is the default (000)

    for everyone following the tread the menu selections for the updates are as follows ( settings, layoutfiles, update settings ) select all then press download

    I was able to get the smec t2 gauges and allocations

    Thanks again Rob for answering my questions

    PS i'll be advertising boosted buttons on my car at the track.

    where are these files located i looked in the directory of mp scan they are not in there

    where can i get the ftprog program ?? never mind i am not programming my own cals
