Dodge Dart GLH On The Way?

Looks like Fiat/Chrysler is looking to expand their iconic name pimping with the Dart GLH. While no Dart will ever be similar to the original GLH, I wont be upset about them using the name so long as the car is a 4 cylinder with 300+ hp. Thoughts?

Speaking of name pimping, it looks like the on again off again "Dodge Cuda" is being considered once again.

There is no logical reason to call an Engine a motor.

According to the article, they expect the engine to be 240 HP. If so, it isn't enough.

The article says the 240 hp motor was mentioned for use in "other Darts", not the GLH.

There's a very good chance that there will not be a recall on the hat.

First everyone complained the dart was underpowered, now they give it some power and people complain about the name. Some people are never satisfied.

It would take much more than those three letters to get me excited about the Dart. We'll have to see what actually turns up in dealerships.

The letters "R/T" used to mean something too. Now it's just a high trim package.

yeah this includes the new challengers too - whatever model you care to name

Just out of curiosity, how is it you know who comes up with the names of vehicles they develop? Obviously you must have some insider information. Challenger is easily the most accurate interpretation of the car its based on. Good looks, big power, not so much emphasis on handling.

Re: Dodge Dart GLH On The Way?

    challenger , charger and 300
made out of old damiler junk , if , IF I wanted their old crap I'd just go buy a used benz

dodge exists as a name only , a name owned and used by others

ie there ain't no such thing as a dodge or chrysler - it's just a brand name on a consumer product

    new hemi ??
yeah right , go look at any old benz with the plugs in the middle of the valve cover - you think pushing the name was a hard sell to the damiler marketing boys when looking for way to sell crap in the US ?

it's all about marketing and that's about all

tradeing on the history of a company that had no relation 45 years ago is simply bs

I don't know, I have a challenger and a 300c before that. I love them. To each his own.

Re: Dodge Dart GLH On The Way?

I have to agree with Dr. Johnny a little bit. Chrysler's kinda been dead for me for a while. I feel no brand loyalty about the new products. If they carry their weight on their own, that's great.

Re: Dodge Dart GLH On The Way?

as per insider info .. yeah but in a round about kind of way

I was taught a shipload of stuff by my own father
    a VERY successful salesman himself

when he changed companys he worked for in 1982 , 45 000 000 in buseness followed him to his new job

that would include modine , ford of canada amoung many many others

he sold non ferrious metals and alloys

any ford electrinics that say made in canada are held together with solder he sold them between the late 70's and early 90's
ford had 2 electronics plants , one here in scarborough where I live and one in brazil

to add , a for instance
the water neck on an L body rad for the heater hose - that got moved to the water pump on later cars

    know why ?

it has nothing to do with water flow paths and everything to do with effing up the aftermarket that now has to retool just to supply a part in an application where the ones they're already making no longer fit

Re: Dodge Dart GLH On The Way?

or , lets invent a company for arguments sake
    we'll call it Joe's dounuts

40 years go past everyone loves Joe's dounuts

then Ted's coffie buys out Joe's dounuts

soon , Joe's dounuts are made useing the same dounut mix as Ted's coffie uses

    now are you eating a Joe's dounut or a Ted's dounut ?

the printing on the bag don't mean much .. as long as the ink ain't toxic lol

Couldn't agree more. Some people just cant accept change. They always look back to "the good old days" and act like things were so much better. Has anyone taken a step back and looked at the original GLH objectively? It's an ugly piece of crap econo-box that had a turbo and 80's era ricer ground FX. Lets not pretend it was anything other than that. Don't get me wrong, i LOVED the few GLH's I have owned over the years, and they had a level of forward thinking that many cars didn't at that time, but I haven't tricked myself into believing they were perfect. I gave up on my brand loyalty to Chrysler years ago after buying a Mini Cooper, now I drive an Audi, but I think the majority of what Chrysler is doing right now (despite being owned by Fiat) is great. The Dart, the 200, the Cherokee, and the Renegade are all EXCELLENT, completely new vehicles that have all had mostly positive reviews from critics. I like the Chargers, and the new Challenger, while still lacking in a few areas, is much improved. Go test drive some cars at your local Dodge dealership and leave all your negative, preconceived notions, about what Chrysler has become at home.

You should see the flame fests over on the RWD boards over the new Challengers and Chargers.

My only beef with calling something a GLH is I'm tired of all the name recycling. Come up with a new name guys and let the new product stand or fall on its own.

    Working on clearing the decks.
