Removing Kelsey Hayes brake caliper guide pin

1983 Plymouth Scamp GT

Manual shows a ratchet and socket removing the brake caliper guide pin, and is exactly that descriptive. Real life shows a round rubber grommet around a round pin with a space to stick an allen wrench in the middle. Somehow I am skeptical a 3" allen wrench will give me enough torque without stripping it. What do you guys do?

I've had a couple for years just for ford and gm brakes (diff sizes)

That's the best way to go, but I've also used an allen wrench with a pair of vise grips on it.

So crude !! LOL

I use a 9/16 box end wrench for leverage, remember them??
