Rear suspension / subframe differences Series 1/2

So I was going through Johnny's project thread looking at a bunch of pictures and noticed something interesting ( brought on by the tie rod replacement thread )

The series 2 suspensions are different than the series 1's

My rear subframe has a cross bar at the middle of the bobble strut mount that ends into corner gussets. My rear shocks are mounted on the outside of the engine subframe box and Johnny's are mounted on the inside where my car has gussets.

see the pics in post 104 on the project thread.

Which makes some of my info in the clutch thread wrong...for example, on his car, the shocks don't interfere with the tie rod zerk fitting when removing, looks like they're plenty far apart.

Can someone post a pic of a subframe, either series 1 or 2?

ok, second pic... shows shock mounts on the inside of the engine "box"...
Mine are not like that ... my shocks mount outside the engine box and the same bolt that holds the rear of the lower a-arm in, also runs through the bottom of the shock...hmmm

I think Harold's series 1 "early" car is like yours also.

Mine is like that as well player, caught it looking at the same pics of Johnny's a couple months back. They must have done it for a while as mine was car #21.
