    Re: 89 shelby dakota

    How about a project truck?

I got this Shelby Dakota last summer. It has 172,000 miles. It runs great and has a clean title. I drive it regularly and have never had any problems. the truck currently has 175,000 miles.

All of the original Whittier installed Shelby parts are still present and in good condition.

The box, fenders and rocker panels were rusty. The floors and frame are solid. The doors have some rust at the bottom, but nothing terrible.
I replaced the box with a clean one and an NOS tail gate. I have replacement fenders, rocker panels and cab corners not yet installed.
The rear axle was rebuilt with all new bearings and seals. It still has the original 3.90:1 ring and pinion.
I had BoostButton make a socketed SMEC for me with the Shelby Performance package calibraton on it. I also installed a throttle body from a 1989 5.9 and a low restriction muffler. Back in 1989 Shelby sold this package with the claim it was good for 20 HP and 30 lb/ft of torque. I have the original SMEC and throttle body too.
I have the original wheels in decent condition and a set of NOS wheel center caps.
The interior is in good condition, no rips in the seat. One crack in the dash pad.
I replaced the electric fans with twin Spal fans. They are a direct fit to the OEM fan shroud and push more air using less amps.
I have a new timing chain and a Milodon high flow water pump both are new in the box along with the required gaskets and seals for the front of the engine.
I have the light bar for the box but I haven't put it back on since I replaced the box.
I also have three quarts of Chrysler PW7 Bright White urethane single stage paint and hadener. Enough to finish the rest of the truck and have some left over.

    $3500 for everything listed above.

Do you have any pics of the rust on the doors and cab corners?

I do have new replacement rocker panels and cab corners.
The truck has a rear step bumper on it too. I still have the roll pan, but prefer the bumper for box protection.
