Re: safe boost level for 2.5 uncommon block

    I instantly missed this car...
Here's the skinny for you guys helping.
    '90 2.5 turbo with a modified T1 garrett.
1piece intake, stock TB, +20s, adjustable FPR.
2.25" IC pipes with a front mounted XS power ebay spearco knockoff cooler.
    1st gen talon BOV
2.5" downpipe, 3" out the back.
    Grainger boost control
    Grainger cutout raiser
    3.50 gear A520.
At the time I sold the car, I had the boost set to 12psi, boost would creep to somewhere around 17psi as RPM rose.
If the boost was set to 15psi, it would ping, audibly at the torque peak. So I dialed it back.
As it was setup, the car went 13.9s at 98 to 99mph with 1.9 60fts.
That should cover most of it, if there's any details ya'll want, just ask!

Car is currently being redone. We completely stripped the car down. At the body shop now. The paint is layed on now and looks incredible. Currently the bumpers and moldings are being repaired and sprayed. I have a couple of questions regaurding the car. What # car is it exactly? Also what is done to the turbo and how much boost can it take? Lastly how much power is the a520 tranny good for?

Car is #807. The turbo is a stock Garrett T2, it would be best to keep the boost in the turbo's efficiency range somewhere in the 18to20psi range. I will tell you, when I would set base boost pressure higher than 15psi, it would have some audible detonation at low RPM in higher gears. The more boost you put to it, the more likely the A520 trans is likely to strip teeth off of 3rd gear. I would suggest upgrading the transmission to the A555. Will be a drop in.
On another note, I am happy to hear the car is getting the love it deserves. Please post pictures.

I will be purchasing a bottom end with venolia pistons and eventually a clutch. And i guess eventually when i find an a550, ill be getting one of those too lol. I Currently have a holset turbo and currently am capable of getting a manifold made for it but i want to wait for that. I think plans for the winter are switching blocks, mild cam, 3 bar map, and getting a clutch

Dang Dave that thing gets around! The engine i sold to Dave came out of my uber rare 1990 5spd base Turbo Caravan. It was driven by me for 3 years here in Pittsburgh.I sold engine to Dave a few years ago.The Compressor housing has adapter properly tig welded to housing and should have a 2.5 swingvalve.I think balance shafts are removed. You should be able to run well into 13's maybe 12's with that setup with a cal,+40's and 3 bar. Also join the Steel City Sdac chapter on Facebook.I also have a 88 Es shadow parts car if you need anything.Ryan(supershadow)already got dash, carpet and door panels, fenders and doors are spoken for.
