i'm building my omni/srt4 as a street legal drag car..
is it worth the $100 to switch to a manual rack or should i just loop the lines on the existing ps rack..
any feedback on drive ability of both is much appreciated

I looped lines on mine. It's easy enough to drive. Never drove one with a manual rack to compare to.
If you are driving it on the street much, then I would go power. If occasional street, non power. I have a manual rack in mine, it is ok to drive, but I don't put alot of miles on it. Nice having extra room under hood, hard turning with slicks on. I think now I would choose power steering on mine.

No power steering? Drag only car, sure.
Street car, no way.
I took the power steering off my 95 SOHC Neon and love the feel. Still left the PS rack in place. A bit of extra effort at low speed parking, especially with the M/T Street Strip drag radials...but setting the tire pressure at 41 psi helps. BTW...on a low hp car...my Neon picked up an incredible 9/10ths in the quarter and a solid 2 mpg on hi way. Some guys in other, heavier cars use electric PS pumps like a Prius uses...if I used one I'd have a switched on it to only turn it on at VERY low speeds.

tough call, i used to think power steering was lame, 10 years later i like being able to actually steer when in a parking lot or not getting arm "pump" when carving the canyons, but thats not the question.
i dont like the non power rack, way to much turning the steering wheel before the action happens.
the glh rack should be the quick ratio, awesome with power steering, better with power pulley (spins a little slower, slightly less assist), but kind of sucky to drive around without any assist with that rack.
now the normal p/s rack might be the happy medium if using without assist? what size/style steering wheel do you plan on using?
for now sticking with the stock steering wheel..
