2003 RAM 2500 Evap core freezes up

My father in laws 03 RAM Cummins likes to freeze up the evap core in the summer months when it's humid. If you run the fan with the AC off for about 5 minutes the air starts moving out the vents again and you can turn the AC back on. Do these trucks have a freeze switch like the turbo cars? If so I think that might be the problem. Any suggestions are welcome.

Its got one. Ours never stopped working (knocks on wood) but it was somewhat nasty when we had the dashboard out to replace the heater core and evap core last fall. Cleaned it all up before reinstalling everything.

If you end up removing the dashboard just be prepared for the top plastic cap to crumble like eggshells and turns into dust…

The top plastic already has a giant crack in it. Was the evap core in yours very dirty on the fresh air side when you replaced it?

It had a lot of crud collected in there. I am sure it would have eventually led to it rotting out on the bottom since it is just bare aluminum.
