    532P STD pistons for 84-85 Turbo I 2.2

Throwing out there to see if anyone has a set of 532P pistons. Did a compression and leakdown test of Faiths Rampage and it looks like a few holes are in pretty bad shape and we have to crack the engine open.

No one looks to have STD 84-85 pistons anymore, might go ahead and change the engine over to a 86-88 turbo I if that is the case. But if I do, there is tranmission interchange issues of course.

Former owner was running the vehicle with no wastegate control and no intercooler and no overboost protection. Safe to assume the worst.

1 cylinder is perfect with 1% leakdown, 2 cylinders have 20% leakdown and the last cylinder has 75% leakdown.

    I found this on eBay:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/DODGE-OMNI-L...b93a22&vxp=mtr

Unfortunately only 3 available. I got my last set from them for my Omni GLH Turbo build (same pistons).

I did see that, didn't want to pickup three on the offhand chance I'd get lucky and find a match.

Went through my whole stasg this morning, found a set of early rods but no pistons. Have several 86-87 engines but all 8 bolt cranks.

If I swap the motor out I have to swap out the converter and front pump too. The trans is actually fresh and I don't want to get that deep into it at the moment.

    Re: 532P STD pistons for 84-85 Turbo I 2.2

Looks like Rock Auto lists Sealed Power 532P standard size piston for an '85 turbo Daytona at $17.40 (only 1 remaining). I'm not sure if those are identical to the Clevites that MPCentral/Northern Auto Parts sells though. Probably not worth the risk buying 3 Clevite 532P and 1 Sealed Power 532P just to find out they are different manufacturer.

If you go with an '86 up turbo piston, wouldn't you only have to change out the cylinder head and logic module?

It could be worth calling them though to see if they have them on the shelf and just haven't listed them. 866-582-0942

Rock Auto looks to only have a single piston.

Yes I could change out the pistons and it is an option being considered but would rather not.

Maybe I should gamble on that "one" on Rock Auto being a set? Hmm...

I ordered the last "piston" from RA, I'm curious if I'll get a set or a single. At worst I'm out $17

if useing an 86 turbo piston you don't need to change anything else

84-5 motors like the 86 turbo piston just fine - ran one of my motors like that with the o-e G head on top / log turbo on the back

    no issues

I figure the slightly bigger dish = better detonition resistance - maybe

otherwise if you could notice any difference I'd be very suprised

I'd prefer to use the correct pistons but exploring other options too.

If you are looking for a used set I have a set of rods and pistons from my 85 chargers motor.
I know they are not new, but figured I'd throw the option out there for you

I'll let you know in a day or two, have to see what Rock Auto is delivering.

I suspect a single slug so used will be the direction I'm going.

The Rampage is going to be a very, very mild package for Faith, she just wants to putter around in it. I'm going to go into the cal it came with and redo the spark curves and turn the over boost protection back on and set the boost at 10 psi and pitch the large 89 WG can for a stock 87 TII/GLHS can with the weak spring.

When it gets painted this winter, were going to try and intercool it too for extra protection.

    Rock Auto strikes again.

Small block Chevy piston in an Sealed Power box marked 532P.

    Dang.
I ordered two wheel bearings once and when they came in there were two parts as expected. However one was in a box that was easily about 4 times the size with the same part number (diff. Manufacturer ).
That bearing was HUGE compared to the little wheelbearing i needed.

I guess that parts picker previously worked for Wal-Mart.

Looking for std bore or larger. Had gotten a set of 532P that are .030 over for use with a g-head, but going in another direction now.

Make sure to let them know. They have always been great for me when an order gets messed up. This Spring, when I was trying to get my Daytona on the road, I ordered all new brakes hoses from them. I ended up with two driver side front hoses. Box was marked correctly, but the wrong hose was in it. They sent a new one no questions asked. Didn't even make me return the other one...

Give them a chance to make it right. Not necessarily their fault if Sealed Power put the wrong piston in the box...

I have mixed results on returns. They did make it right on this but in the past have not been so reasonable.

A few months ago I ordered an O2 sensor and got a reboxed item. I ordered a VERY SPECIFIC part and paid extra for it because I did not want another brand which was known to be problematic.

Care to guess what was in the box? RA gave me some difficulty and pretty much stated "we reserve the right to substitute a part at any time" to which I replied "screw you I paid for specific brand and part number no generic sh*t" They finally saw things my way but there was a lot of time wasted on the phone.

    Re: 532P STD pistons for 84-85 Turbo I 2.2

Glad they made it right. Don't get me wrong, I know they aren't perfect. I've seen a lot of complaints against them in the last few years. I guess I've been lucky. I know you have to watch them like a hawk on shipping charges... I need to order some parts to finish up my 5 speed conversion on my Daytona, kept putting items in the basket that indicated they would ship form the same warehouse. All of a sudden it went from $12 shipping to $30, and all of the items said delayed shipping from remote warehouse...What the heck? Removed the last item, and it went back down, and the delay message went away on all the items... Turns out it was cheaper to get a different brand(which I prefered) from a different warehouse than to get it from the same warehouse.... Explain that one...

I still haven't placed that order yet...
