    Fuel pump/regulator diaphram material

I am looking for a good source on diaphragm material for my BEGI regulator. Possibly looking for a more expensive "upgrade" that will last longer. I had tried to use the gaskets they sell that look almost the same but obviously they are not proper as they leak after a few weeks.

I have found stuff like this...

Yeah. Everything is too thick. Reinforced flouroelastomer is sold but not to any individuals that I have seen. The only proper thickness stuff is from Classic Carburetors in Austrailia. I doubt they produce it. 3$ a square inch for ~.030 thick. Actually looks like what BEGI uses. One forum said it's too low volume to stock

    Re: Fuel pump/regulator diaphram material

http://www.equalseal.com is looking like a pretty good resource. I decided to look up nitrile diaphragm sheet instead of what I had been searching and this site came up with lots of options for sale. Now I have to figure out what I want, maybe get some variety. I wouldn't mind paying a LOT for a one time diaphragm.
Searching for the exact product that classic carbs was welling helped out.
Allpar.com really lead me astray looking for "viton diaphragms" for carburetor/fuel pump rebuilds that just don't exist in real life. I don't know if the author had ever actually done what he was writing about.

Then looking farther, one forum mentioned reinforced rubber on mcmastercar instead of searching for gaskets or diaphragms.

Finding 1/32" thick reinforced nitrile sheet is not so easy. Lots of 1/16th options out there.

Gonna try a piece of neonprene dipped glove in front of the current leaky gasket that is not chemically happy. Still waiting on BEGI for a response before I go buying a bunch of stuff.

Come back and I will see you at work! Made it here, seems like my wideband is still a problem. Annoying that I have two simultaneous issues. Adaptive fueling keeps trying to max out fuel being removed. Runs great and then starts pulling fuel. Not sure if its the wideband lying.

    Re: Fuel pump/regulator diaphram material

I bought some 1/16" 75 durometer viton rubber. It has a textured finish. My RRR is some kind of generic chinese knockoff and I don't have a source for diaphragms. I have been using a homemade viton diaphragm for about a week now. It seems to be working well so far. I mentioned it in Ondontis Spirit thread but I decided to post here as not to clog up that thread.

I have included some pics of my regulator to show how it works and possibly help someone decide if this will work for them.

I replaced the smaller diaphragm with a homemade one. The larger diaphragm never touches fuel so I expect it to last a long time.

    Re: Fuel pump/regulator diaphram material

I would rather not have to rely on a company that may or may not continue making the replacement parts I need. It would be nice to have a lasting source. I also posted because there are other types of regulators that could be fixed using the same method. These things really aren't complicated devices. As long as the regulator has a flat diaphragm without a crimped on metal disc it's easy to make your own diaphragm.

It's crazy that they want $80 for the plasti... err "composite" one. I paid $40 for the one pictured. I'm not even sure that SPA turbo actually made it. I haven't seen them on ebay for a couple years either.

It would be nice to have a fiber reinforced rubber. I imagine it would last longer than just straight rubber would. We'll see how long this current one lasts. If it ends up tearing prematurely I will post about it here. I don't see any stretching yet which indicates to me that it's holding up to the gasoline.
