Looking to possibly run ethanol, have some questions...

I have the Walbro E85 pump, adjustable regulator and 83# injectors as of now and running 93 octane with static FP at 40 PSI for 20 pounds of boost. I'd like to run ethanol because of the power potential and the cost. I have an Innovate LM-1...where do I begin? Are the injectors big enough? More fuel pressure?

    Thanks!

It's mainly in the cal for you at this point IMO. Alcohol needs about 50% more fuel although some say you can run a leaner mix than that. I know a lot of pros run closer to 2x the fuel because you don't lose power running alky rich as much as you do gas. If your WB can be set up to display lambda then you can just get out there and start tuning for 1.0 lambda. Would want to be a bit shy of .8 Lambda at full boost. .75-.78.

This is all off the top of my head from some research I did a few years back. If you do a search I know there is a good thread about it on here.

MP Tune can help you with this. There's a setting in the AFR setup for E85 fuel (density), then you just pick the AFR's you want for the main fuel tables. I personally also add some fuel to the cold start tables, and the transient fuel.

So, you think I'll be OK hardware wise then?

    Also...thank you Cordes!

E85 will require about 25% more fuel- not 50%. when i ran e85 in one of my cars i had a set of +20's in there on an otherwise stock car- stock boost levels etc. wideband was showing right in the wheelhouse on stock fuel pressure- right around .78 at wot.

The stoic AFR for E85 is around 9.7. So, not 50% more.

Max power, the AFR for E85 is around 8.

Drag Chevette's 13th post on this forum http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=283787 seems to have a good handle on running E85 too at post #13.
