Description: This is a turbo we recently removed from a 2.5l turbo 8v that we had been doing some testing on.
Turbo has about 20,000kms on it and performs flawlessly. Came off the car bone dry on both exhaust and compressor sides.
This turbo has a modified compressor housing that clears the 8v head much better in the stock location than a non-modded B-housing. It also comes with a custom mounted big can W/G actuator for "bolt-on" capability using stock exhaust mani and intake mani's.
It has a clipped stage 1 turbine wheel and currently has the .48 A/R housing. This turbo reached full spool 17psi on a fairly modded 2.5 Under 3000rpm (about 2800rpm) and made around 340WHP at that boost level. At 19 psi is started to surge, so we simply left it at the 17psi setting.
We also ran this turbo with the .63 A/R turbine housing where it was full spool
22psi @ 32-3300rpm and made right around 400WHP on the same 2.5 8v on pump gas. Again, when we tried running 25psi boost it started to surge, so just turned it down to 22 and left it there.
I always check full spool #'s in third and fourth gear, depending on location and conditions.
So, IF you wanted to Max out this turbo at 30psi you would need at least a stage 2 turbine wheel and this turbo would prob not be for you. IF on the other hand, you are looking to make HP #'s like I have posted and want a Really Fun Fast spooling turbo that can do it on relatively low boost and pump gas, this would be the ticket, just slap on your Swingvalve and go! (that's right, No broke S/V housing bolts!)
