    Adhesive for rear badges

For those of you who have restored your cars or even just repainted them, what's the best adhesive to use for the rear badges (before they were vinyl decals)? I had this happen:

and my brother just so happens to have a set of rear badges in excellent condition, but they have no adhesive on them. It looks like it's a die-cut sheet of double-side-adhesive rubber or something. Should I stick with that, and exact-o myself a new section like the original?

3M double sided tape is what I use. I was amazed at how much of the stuff was used on my SRT10 Ram.

    Re: Adhesive for rear badges

the 3m stuff costs an arm and a leg for a small roll and it's way way more than you'll ever need

I bought a small roll for the door molding of my turbo z and got almost a lifetime supply left over

if you have some good high heat silicone just use that instead
but avoid anything for house hold use like bath tub silicone - it just simply won't hold up for long

the high heat stuff , you should need a hammer to remove the tags after

11 bucks for a roll at Autozone, worth the money.

And if you work on cars always some use for it.

the last roll I bought was about 40 bucks

not sure how long it was now but I had enough to go around the back window of my pickup twice when I put the louvers on it last year

the roll I bought in the 90's for the turbo z was 25 feet and cost 25-30 bucks at the time

canadian prices .. what else can I say ?

add 19 cents per dollar , shipping , 13% sales tax and it's probably close to my prices up here

'cept for the wait on shipping vs the drive down the street to the auto parts store

Mopar - Tech hit it out of the park, too. Silicone adhesive is messy and really cannot come off clean if you ever want to remove the emblem or such. I redid all the tape on my SRT10 and while it was a ----- to get off at some points I didn't ruin anything.

Just find a body shop and ask them for a small strip of adhesive tape. They may even give it to you and be done. That's how I found VHB 3M tape. Did not cost me a dime. I bet the emblem is still on that daytona in a junk yard somewhere.
