    L body interior light

Anyone know where to find a NOS or Reproduction Dome Light cover for a L body? I think the original Mopar part number is 3488995.

Also, anyone have any luck with a LED replacement type bulb for the dome light? I'd like a lot brighter than the stock dull one.

    Thanks,

Just doing a quick search it appears the dome light is a 211-2 bulb. Tons of LED ones on ebay. I replaced all the interior bulbs with ebay LEDs and they have been great.

My original OMNI cover is kinda crummy. If you have a good one Gary I'll take you up on it!

I'll search for a bulb! Thanks for the info!

    Re: L body interior light

I didn't have any luck finding a new or good used one when I restored my Scamp, so I went a different route. I actually used the interior light out of a Caliber, and made a mini overhead console to put it in. Filled in the old hole in the headliner before re-covering it, and glued the console in place. Turned out pretty good, and I have tons more light than the factory setup. Plus the passenger can have light at night without blinding me!

I used a SRT4 dome light, it helps hold up the headliner too. With the LED light, it cast shadows on the ground. Thread #187 on my project log.

Gary did you happen to find one? I would buy the whole housing if you got one.

I put a LED bulb in. Haven't checked it in the dark yet, but it looks SOO much better than the factory bulb that literally burned skin off my finger in just a couple seconds of it being on (opening door, then pushing door jamb switch with my finger to turn light back off, then pulling bulb = OUCH!)

I ended up getting this bulb from Amazon. Fit perfect.

Night results: I really like it!

If I didn't already have a newer headliner (had it redone a few years ago with the soft stuff, and eliminated the sunvisors) then I would also go with a center mounted dome light. This new bulb is definitely nice and bright for the front, but the backseat/back floorboards are still really dark. A center mounted dome light would be much better.
