    Re: Power steering Pump differences

I've had virtually the same heat shield on a TBI header car for the past decade with no issues whatsoever. Jessie Buhr now owns the car. The downpipe gets close to the rack and pinion on the TBI header, but the #1 exhaust runner is very close to the pump. Probably closer than the Masi application. Had Thermo-Tec wrap on a small area on the downpipe that was most critical on the TBI header. Also am going to use Aeroquip Fire-sleeve material on the pressure and return lines. Not worried about it at all. Just posted pics so OP could see it fits with large plenum style intakes. Bottom line is I know it fits, works, and lives, just fine.
Quack's Masi GLHS I put together what 12+years ago also had a ZF pump on it with no ill effects. That wasn't hardly a stock masi powerplant.

To the OP, if you're going "full race", then deleting the P/S is probably a foregone conclusion.

On the other hand, and if you're still going to use P/S, don't box yourself in.
Sure, there are probably ways to use either the ZF OR the SAG,
but there may actually be other options available to you in a race application.

I had been considering using a pump from a Neon prior to deleting the P/S on the GLHS.
The Neon P/S pump and reservoir could bolt where the A/C once resided.
It would take some FAB, but nothing serious.
Adapting the lines probably wouldn't be much of an issue.
Surely either the L-body lines or the Neon lines, or a combination of both,
with an adapter or two could work it out.

It would surely be worth investigating to solve the problem.
    Just my thoughts.

Well, I just confirmed that my Omni has the Saginaw. I had my wife go take pics and all since thats the only part of the engine bay I dont have a picture of.....

How hard is it to delete the P/S? And what's the torque steer like once thats gone??
