Angry 87 T2 charger with. "Dead spot" while accelerating. Any ideas?

I bought my 87 charger from a guy who tried to upgrade it and left me with a basket case. The turbo was upgraded and he installed an intercooler, but that's it. The car idles slightly rough and when I try to accelerate, it coughs and acts like I'm flipping the ignition on and off. It's also putting fuel in the oil and the plugs foul up with black dry soot almost immediately after I start it. I have asked a friend who went to school at NASCAR what he though and he said I have too much boost for my ignition system but he wasn't positive. Can ANYONE help before I give up and convert it to a rear wheel drive with a V8?

If you're dumping fuel into the oil you almost certainly have injectors too big for the computer or you have a bad injector stuck open.

What size injectors do you have in the car now? What cal are you using? Map sensor? That's where I would start. Fortunately this is most likely a cheap problem to fix barring you having washed down the cyl walls already.

The injectors are for the T2. Everything else is stock T1 system. I'm betting the cylinders are already washed. Was planning to pull the engine and freshen everything up, but I'm afraid of going back to the same issues afterwards. Do the make a computer to handle that fuel system? (I may have even bought the +20 injectors when I replaced the stock ones. I over pressurized them which started this issue. I can't remember off hand which ones I bought for this place in Texas)

Have you pulled the codes? I think the TI LM would be able to handle the TII injectors fairly easily. You definitely should not be getting fuel in the oil unless you have a real problem. A bad map or physical problem with the injector could cause you to dump fuel though.

It might also cause the bucking you seem to be getting. The limp-mode rev limiters are set very low (like 3k rpm).

I haven't pulled the codes since I changed the injectors. It does act exactly like it's in limp mode, but I can "pedal" past the limiter most of the time and it don't always act up.... It will redline with no issues when in park or neutral, but the minute you put a load on it (when in gear), it acts all stupid.

I've never had it that far out. IMO with a stock cam gear you can get it to run one tooth out and after that it won't. Even at one tooth out you can know something's up, but not get fuel in the oil.

I was told by my friend that I may have too much boost and it's blowing the fuel past the rings.... I think that sounds a bit far fetched

I can't post the pic here. My phone won't upload it. Compression is 120 to 125 across the board.

There is an easy fix for that.

How is vacuum hoses to the map sensor/solenoid? In your picture, there is a vacuum line from the map sensor/solenoid area that is open to the atmosphere. That would cause RICH in vacuum and LEAN in boost.

almost..to make it appear in your post, you need to make sure it ends in .jpg , and make sure its formed correctly (for some reason you have a space in the http), then put [IMG] right before it and [/IMG] right after it...

IIRC one of the imgur.com link options should do all that for you..I think the "BBCODE/Forum" one or something
