    Lifter noise

How loud are these TIII's normally? Some say they are a little ticky normally, even if everything is in A1 shape. Just wondering, cause I got my 2.5 TIII running yesterday and I can hear them. It's not bad, and I don't have a belt or radiator on it yet, so I dunno if it gets quieter when warm. I'm also putting a built 2.2 TIII together for a guy, and I need to know what's normal and what isn't.

Can someone with a good running one take a video of it for me? I know phones and cameras pick up more noise than you can normally hear, but I can take a vid of mine and compare it to a vid of one in good shape and see if there's a difference in sound.

In all my builds and others I've built, they are the quietest engine out there, especially over an 8 valve. If it ticks, you most likely have a bad lifter or missing the disc under the lifter.

Yeah definitely make sure you're not missing any lifter discs. They can and do fall down into the oil pan if a previous mech wasn't careful. Trying to reuse stock lifters can be a frustrating mess.

Tell me about it lol, been hunting good or new ones for months now for 2.2 TIII build. He's got some sent to a rebuilder to see if they can do anything.

On this note, does anyone know which way the lifter discs are suppose to be installed? They are dished on one side, does that go up or down?

Wait, there are supposed to be some kind of discs above the lifter inside the rocker arm? Pics?

Lol, I realized this after looking at the MB lifter swap, made this post then decided that needed it's own thread... what exactly is the purpose of the discs?
