Welcome to the site.
These cars are pretty robust. Basic maintenance is pretty much all you need. Rust gets more of them than anything else.
Great car Low production numbers and every bit of technology that Chrysler had at the time was thrown at it. Best trans, best brakes, auto air conditioning, enthusiast power seats, overhead traveler, etc etc. Start a build log thread and show us what you're doing Welcome. What part of the United States? I'm jealous!! LOL
Headlight doors get stuck open, odometer gears inside dashboard break, ignition where key goes in can feel stripped and cause it to not be able to start, shifter bushings, oil gets in the airbox. I've had one since 1997 and have had all these issues. Worth it though. Only thing I've fixed were shifter bushings. The rest are a bit past my mechanical abilities.
Thanks for the welcomes!! Been busy so sorry for the late re post.
I have a few more pics of the La Baron. Me and a buddy just overhauled the brake system.
Once I get it registered and on the road I will have more pics!
I also found a cool bottle of polish in my garage with a New Yorker on it! I will post that too.

Hey everyone
Finally got it on the road after 5 years!
I have a few more pics of it.
This car has been awesome so far, no issue at all.
I do have a question. What is the car suppose to boost stock?
When I First got it, it would boost 15 psi. Now it spikes 12ish and hold 9ish. Normal?
http://s284.photobucket.com/user/Zac...rtson/library/
Also what is vacuum suppose to be at? Mine hold 15
Vacuum should be closer to 18" at idle. The boost on the VNTs should be around 11PSI at WOT, but they weren't known for being that accurate.
Hey guys! It has been interesting past few weeks with the Le Baron.
I blow off vacuum lines and the turbo spooled up really high, so I went home and fixed all the leaks in a few hours and got it back on the road.
I test drove it with no issues, then I stopped for a half hour and got back in it and got on it. Boosted fine until smoke poured out the back.
I blew the turbo seal! So i found a mitsu turbo to replace it until I rebuilt the VNT.
A friend and I pulled the head and were about to put the turbo on until we prime it with oil and it pours oil out the exhaust.
So I end up getting from his dad a NOS vnt turbo he had in the garage since 1994!
We got that turbo on and got it back up and running!!
Now after the update I have a question....
The car is straight piped right now. It is holding 15-16psi in every gear most of the time. It sometimes holds 12ish. Is this normal for a VNT or is it because of the open exhaust?
Thanks for the help guys!
Mopar or no car!!
Zach
I think that's pretty normal for a VNT with an open exhaust. I couldn't control the boost in mine at all with a relatively free flowing exhaust, ported head and manifolds etc. It was a bummer.
Nice to see another Turbo GTC coupe It should move pretty good on 15psi, enjoy it!
Yeah, 15-16psi is fairly normal with an open exhaust VNT. I seem to remember that's what my friends '90 Daytona VNT made when he put exhaust on it. This was WAY back, so he used a diode to prevent overboost and crushed the regulator to up the fuel pressure to make sure it didn't go lean. It was a FUN car!!
