Insurance cost..?

It was tough to get insurance for the Consulier.
I went with Hagerty's .
Just wondering what value other people have put on their cars and what company you went with.
I have it at 25,000 and the cost is about 900.00 a year.
Florida is going to cost more than most I think.

Mine is is with Hagerty up in Canada but they know I can only drive it for half the year tops and it costs me $400; For about the same value as yours as well.

I also have Hagerty. At first I had the value at $20k and was about $530 a year here in Oregon. I just raised it to $35k and it now cost $740 per year.
I did talk with the insurance people Chris posted above. The price is lower but they don't let you drive it for things like running to a parts store. It has to be car shows, etc.

My corner of the world is brutal for that. Pretty much you have to insure it as a DD to get any enjoyment out of it, because the collector car insurance terms are pretty much to shows and events you've pre-registered for, and to repair/maintenance appointments that you'd pre booked, ONLY. No "Oh it's a nice night I think I'll cruise around" No "I'll take it to work on Friday to show it off." Then also I think they've got a $7000 valuation minimum now, so low end T-Ms ain't gonna qualify. See guys out parked up at a restaurant or something in a 68 ragtop stang or something and get chatting and they'll shoot me some ---- about "Yah, only pay $200 a year and can drive it when I like", and I'll say "with who?" and go look when I get home, and their terms are exactly the above.... gotta be lots driving round "uninsured" for all practical purposes.

Then it's also brutal for older DDs, just realised that 3rd party only on the Town and Country is about a fourth cheaper than on the 88 Voyager.

MK Insurance allows for more then just Car shows and repairs. You are also allowed club activities, parades and Leisure/Pleasure drives. Per MK, "Leisure/Pleasure drives does not include incidental driving to work unless policy is properly endorsed (limitations on availability may apply)." What they don't want to see happen is using your collector car as a DD. Leaving that interpretation open will only lead to people taking advantage of the cheaper policy and using their cars as a DDs. Unjustified claims increase their costs which causes them to raise rates for everyone which makes CC Insurance less affordable. I attached their policy overview for review.

We are not sure what the minimum valuation is, but, we have a Shelby Lancer insured at around $3000. Never did ask if there was a minimum limitation.

Yup, understand about them not wanting people using as DDs, actually saw an LEO forum where they were shooting the crap about traffic enforcement and one guy was saying they get a lot of "ghetto sleds" on antique plates/insurance being used inappropriately.

Mine is insured with State Farm. $300 ish per year and value of $25k. I will likely switch to Grundy's soon as they insure one of my E30 M3's and my 911.

I tried the standard insurance agencies and none of them even listed the Consulier. I'll have to check but I'm through a third party company through American family.

Almost embarrassed to put down what I pay after seeing what ya'll pay ( yeah, I should probably switch my policy ) but mine is insured for 65k and has no limitations on driving / usage.
The reasoning behind the dollar amount is that I figure that's what it would cost to replace it with something comparable ( road characteristics wise ).. I don't even want to factor rarity into the value...

Hagerty would not go to 50 like I WANTED. Said they been selling for low 20's. But will get an appraisal soon.

I have Gieco...I insured it before the first one sold on ebay ( 3 days after purchase ) so there was no pricing history...but I'm not sure you could get a policy now.
They person I spoke with said there was something in the computer about not being able to insure vehicles from Mosler, but they were obligated to insure it based on some loophole about purchase date. At the time I didn't really think too much about it. I should have asked more questions.

Our cars are not a Mosler.
My title says MAKE- Consulier MODEL- GTP.
I was told if is not in their "drop down screen" they cant write a policy.
That is why I had to go with Hagerty.
Maybe I will try shopping around again next year.

I also had Geico. The rep told me the Consulier was considered "Exotic" and they would be unable to write a policy for it.
