I have a stock 2.5 w/ forged pistons, 3-bar map and +40 injectors, 2-piece intake, ported stock exhaust mani, a AWIC and 3" exhaust and a stock Garrett. It's a fantastic daily driver setup, even with a 5-spd and puck clutch.

I will reiterate the good intercooler thing, with the AWIC I have no problem running 18psi and have been as high as 22-25 spikes.

I might be able to pick up injectors, 2 piece intake, intercooler, piping, and garrett turbo from an 87 shelby... Would this all be great to snatch up? Also, wheming SDAC? What's that, yes I would probably like the 3" tbe.

Yes, get them. 2 piece intake is a great bolt on.

Turbovanman, depending upon pickup date, and true condition of the mini I may be taking it for our honeymoon drive for the "ultimate learning period" to Glacier, Banff, Jasper, and Waterton Lakes. Come day hi if we do!

Also the tachs can notoriously be innaccurate. Mine was reading almost 2k when MPScan and my ears said it was about 950.

So you might have similar issues. I think i remember hearing alot of times it can be resolved by cleaning the connectors on the back of the cluster.

SDAC really refers to two things, the club (Shelby Dodge Automobile Club, www.sdac.org ) OR its our slang for the once per year national club event. This year it is SDAC #25 at Lancaster, PA.
If you wanted a never used minivan exhaust i could deliver for free to the event. If not I'm bringing it anyway to try and sell. Since i haven't put together a for sale post yet, i thought I'd give you a heads up to help out a fellow minivan brother.
What is your location? I know you said the van is from Montana, but didn't see where you are.

The cluster in my 85 LeBaron T does the super-fun bounce bounce from -20 to 70 until you get to about 20mph, then stays steady. I have tried the whack-a-mod many times in frustration, sometime's it gets rid of the dinging while making it bounce all over, but the dinging comes back and bouncing remains. I have now taken it out to inspect.

Picking this beauty up next week. Any color will do, painting it black.

    As for the hitch:
    1) How much can this tow?
    2) Do I need to cut into the bumper/does this need a special bumper?
    3) Is this a bolt on piece or weld on piece?

Re: Seeking Turbo Van Owner Knowledge

    1) Officially, 2000lb, unofficially, if it's a full class 3 really tied into the frame there, not just sat on end, unibody, gotta spread it, with brake controller then 3500lb 350 tongue with no weight distributing hitch, up to 5000 with one (good luck).

    2) That is sitting right where bumper should be, it's not a normal fitment, normal bolt on hitches should go under metal bumper, and under the bumper part of plastic, but trim underneath a plastic one would need hole.

    3) It looks welded, as I said, non-standard., looks like 2x2 tube in there is replacing stock structural member. IDK, get a welder/frame fabricator to take a good look, could be good for more than you'd ever want to tow, could fall off if you hang heavy truck nuts on it.

Roger that, i'll likely have it cut off if that ends up being the case. No need to tow, i'd rather have the bumper and less weight.

I had a class III on mine and it was a bolt on, someone fabricated that piece.

Re: Seeking Turbo Van Owner Knowledge

I saw your now aiming for 13.5's, slow down on the build, lol.

I have one too, bolt on. I've towd utility trailers and my heaviest was my enclosed 7x12 cargo trailer, it did it but wouldn't do it on long trips, trans did NOT like it, but 5 speed might be better.

What is the official tow rating on these minivans?

My hitch is CHROME, gotta be good for 7000. At least!

True, but the axle/springs/stock tires are only good for about 3000lb on the back so don't go over your GVWR with the hitch weight. (If you're running basically empty you could be up scary high before you hit GVWR on hitch weight though)
