Thanks for the kind words guys, frankly I never thought I was doing anything unique.

I just took an idea and ran like hell with it and the stars aligned as they did.

Speaking of stars aligning... getting ready to head out on a road trip and drag this one home. I made plans to buy it back in *2013* and for one reason or another the owner and I have not been able to connect up till this month.

    88 Shelby with T-II and 555.

Not sure what I'm going to do with it at them moment aside from turning my son loose on it to see if he can get it running.

Sad to say she is a rot box and going to get parted out.

Rails and rockers are just gone-gone-gone..

189k, purchased from the original owner who parked it 12 years ago in his yard. Turbo II, power windows, rear defrost, cruise control and a/c.

The valve cover is missing, for some reason it was replaced under warrentee and the black unit was replaced with a silver one. Huge stack of reciepts.

Bummer about the rust but appears to have many good parts. Are you gonna see if it runs before you scrap it out?

How much to let me raid that car for miscellaneous interior pieces? If the passenger seat is in good shape, I'd take that off your hands too.

Sad story seeing a one-owner Shelby car get neglected like that. Damn shame.

Yes, and like the GLHS going to save as much as I can. I don't think I'll save much sheet metal aside from the hood and nose cone though. Passenger fender might be ok.

Let me know what you want and I'll work up a price, aside from the drivers seat the interior looks very good. Headliner isn't even shot.

Flipping through the pile of paperwork.

What a damn shame, car was well taken care of through the 80's and 90's. Even had two service contracts.

Even have the original sales contract and related paperwork.

No worries, its going to be sitting on the car trailer for several weeks. I have to do pistons in the Rampage and a few other projects around the house before I can get looking at the car. Front rails look good, had no problem picking up the car with a jack there.

Man, a one-owner Shelby piece with that kind of documentation! And it sat and wasted away...

Still driving the car and picking at a few things here and there. Swapped in another power module today for testing, so far identified 4 good units and one bad.

Re: 1987 CSX for SDAC 2015

Just throwing this out here for discussion- I frequently toy with various ideas, maybe 10% get acted on after chewing on the pros and cons for awhile. One of the ideas I have been chewing on for a year or two is the thought of a second Reliant in the garage. The main attraction would be possible spare parts for the first in case something bad should happen but would still be a street driven car much like the CSX that could go to autocross events, calibration fiddling, etc.

The fact I could wheel off the street during a event and lay waste to a bunch of imports has its attractions too. The car would be setup to run low 12's-high 11's

I enjoy driving the CSX but the ergonomics of someone with my frame size getting in and out of the car leaves something to be desired. I have to contort myself a bit getting in the car between the seat bolster and the steering wheel position and I hate the fact I still can't see the top of the gauge cluster while driving. I shimmed the front of the column to raise the steering wheel slightly and lowered the drivers seat both of which helped but still isn't great.

Another Reliant SE has popped up on my radar and it is a possible candidate. Looks rust free and in good condition.

Thoughts? I have a donor vehicle sitting on the trailer, all the drivetrain and suspension parts I need.

Problem is I'm not at capacity but over- I have two parts cars here as it is (A 4-dr Dart and a Daytona Shelby Z) and never had any plans to keep the Rampage. Faith decided she would like to have it so... Who am I to turn down the request? My wife is great.

The Dart parts car can't leave yet as my '67 isn't done and I can't get rid of the 4-dr till the '67 is on the road. Stripping both parts cars of everything would be a hole in my schedule of events for weeks... and with winter coming I don't have the time.

And yes, bait and switch is very much on my mind, hilarity would follow.

I'm considering selling the 1971 Sebring too, I just don't have time to enjoy it.

Put a tilt column in the CSX. Makes a huge difference.

I'll have to check the interchange, I wonder if a g-body unit will fit? I just happen to have an '88 Daytona.

Still, I'm looking for excuses to sell the CSX and get the k-car. It was my first choice over 2 years ago but a great candidate never presented itself till now.

I don't regret the time in the car, I always liked a challenge.. just was never a p-body guy.

I think I'm just the man to answer that question. You'll need a P body specific tilt column. The wiring for everything is in a different location in the 87s so you'll need to swap out everything or you'll have to tie it up some where unless I'm mistaken. I believe all the connectors are the same, but they moved them farther back under the dash in 88 and 89.

I put a tilt column in my 89 CSX as it's the only way I can really drive the car comfortably. Initially it was a nightmare because I thought all of the columns interchanged since I used a G body column to put tilt in my old 600. I was very much wrong and learned more than I wanted to know about the Saginaw tilt column.

    That does sound problematic.

I might have seen one in a car for sale a few days ago, I'll have to review the page I was on. Something to consider.
