    1986 Shelby Charger No Start

Ive been trying on and off for two years to get my shelby charger running again. It has a 87 , mopar performance TII ecu in it

    Here's what happened:

Washed car up to put away for the season - had it idling for about 10 min all of a sudden carjust slowly dies and smoke from power module area.

Sure enough the orange fusible link melted for the power module. I spliced in a new fusible link and plugged back in the original power module - link blew again so I tried a few 86 power modules that I had and no start could not get codes from logic module.

Ordered a reman rockauto power module plugged it in still no start but I could get codes they are alternating between 26 and 27 which I believe are injector driver circuits. Tried jumping ASD relay and no luck -fuel pump wont turn on

I checked injector harnesses and all grounds they look good. Then tried jumping direct power to coil andstill no pump turning on.

I have an 85 parts car which runs so I took out that working power module and still have the same issue cannot get codes from the LM.

Today I replaced all fusiblelinks with a oldsmobile power dist block with maxifuses and still no change. What should I be checking next?

Im thinking maybe a new LM? Its strange that the only power module that allows me to get codes is the reman one and not the working on from my 85.

Any help would be great im at my wits end here.

Are you getting power to the J2 wire with the key on? It's the blue one which goes to the diagnostic connector among other things under the hood.

You said you're trying to jump the ASD relay? That's in the PM on the LM cars.

When I jumped the j2 wire at the connector im hearing a click at the pm area.

The fuel pump I manually jumped power to it at the tank and it ran.

You need to pull all the wiring covering off and find the short, it isnt that much wiring.....even tho it burnt the link its possible the wire itself burnt through.

Re: 1986 Shelby Charger No Start

    To update an old thread,

I tried jumping positive battery power directly to the + side of the coil and got sparks. Took the + wire off of the coil and took positive directly to that and fuel pump ran..., finally!

Happened to have a spare coil so I swapped it in and the car starts again!

    Thanks
    Steve
