    How to bypass ignition switch

Can I just wire in a push button start on this 1989 lebaron with tilt?

And if so, has anyone else done it and how did you go about it?

Push button, 2 Wires, one to starter, one to battery and then to push button?

    Thanks.

Yes. 2 pole push button switch. Run a fused wire off the battery to one side of the switch, and run the other side to the starter solenoid. You could just tap in to the starter solenoid wire that comes out of the starter relay plug.

Re: How to bypass ignition switch

I got 2 30amp relays, pulled all the wires out of the ignition switch on top of the column and wired the wire that feeds the coil, fuel pump, ECU etc into one and the other stuff into the other then turn them on with toggle switches. Then the starter wire into a push button switch I found on ebay. Flip the main toggle on, push the button and the car fires up. The other toggle powers things like windows, radio, etc. Love it. Also make it easy to hide a 3rd toggle so just not anyone can start the car. I'd always lock the keys in the car. Not anymore though as I unlock the door and then put the keys right in my pocket.
