How to figure out what SMEC power module you have?

Not sure what you'd call the smaller plug board, but I have 5 of them, short of trying them, how do you figure out what is turbo, TBI or 3.0L etc?

the board with the 16way connector? That's the power module part. Do they look different at all between the 5?

I thought they were all the same. I had a 89 omni smec and it had the same board as both my 88 turbo smecs

Sadly they all look the same. The one with the white connector, the smaller of the 2, yes, the PM one, lol, not LM. Durr.

I know for a fact the TBI one will not run in a turbo SMEC, figured that out before but without going thru each one on a running vehicle, no way to tell unless someone knows.

Re: How to figure out what SMEC logic module you have?

The round deal on the far left of the board, under the connector, is the coil driver.

In the middle are the injector drivers from top to bottom.

If it has 1 heat sink (with 3 fins) in the middle row, it's a TBI.
    2 heat sinks is turbo.
    3 heat sinks is V6.

The V6 will also have an additional 2-wire cable for the 3rd injector driver (hooked to the logic board). You could use a V6 power module on a turbo, I think.

Re: How to figure out what SMEC logic module you have?

Ok, so my eyes are going bad, I missed on one board the heat sinks, so I have a few, all had 3 heat sinks except one, so that match's my TBI. All worked but the TBI one missed, of course.
