I am looking for the complete shifter, cables, etc, for a 525 transmission in a Daytona. Also looking for a set of +1mm valves for 782 or swirl head. new or slightly used is OK.

what year is it?
The car is a 1993. The transmission is out of an omni because that's the gear ratio I need to run this car on a circle track. I just need a shifter and cables that I can hook up to this transmission. It's okay if I have to fabricate a mounting plate for inside the car or whatever
if you can wait a little while pull the cables out of mine in my backyard im parting out
I'm interested if you give me an idea of what a little while is.
I got valves. Have about 300 miles on them make an offer
Are the 525 and 555 trans same cables? If so I have everything
I'm interested. I am just checking to see if the parts are compatible.
Ok just pm me when u find out
525 and 555 are different cables.
What gearing did you need? There's three different gearings of A523's as well depending on the year, which would have been a direct swap. 525's are the weakest 5 speeds there is for these cars, 523's are light years stronger.
Are you sure someone hadn't previously converted it to like a 520 or something? I'm like 99% sure they are not the same.
Maybe. I always thought all cable-shifted cars prior to 1990 used the same cables per model. Maybe Craig will chime in.

If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is!
I'm not sure how you're getting that with an A525 anyway, but the 90-91' A523 has virtually identical gearing to an A525. All the gears themselves are 100% identical ratio's, and the final drive differences are either .06 or .02 depending on which final drive you have which you could not possibly even feel making any difference. Options for the A525 are 3.56 or 3.87, and the A523 options are 3.50 or 3.85 FD.
The only way to do that RPM at that speed with that size tire would be a hybrid A568. 568 gearing with a 3.50 final drive from an A523. But that'll set you back atleast a grand to build that trans, even more if you swap in an OBX which you might as well do while you're in there. Thats what I did actually, and I absolutely love this transmission build.
But the closest you'll get on the cheap would be a 3.50 final drive A523, which would get you ~65mph in second gear at 6800 RPM.
So build your engine for higher RPM's, better that than the weaker trans.
Apparently you know all the rules of the class that were racing too, right? You do know that some racing classes use rev limiters? Or maybe that stock engines are used, or maybe no turbochargers, or modified computers. I can go on and on, but thanks for making me explain this all again. All I really want to know is if the 520 and 555 cables fit the 525.
I can't help that no one else is chiming in on that, but this is the wanted section not the tech section. A little bit of research reveals to me that it is possible to use the 520/555 shifter and cables but that slight modification may be needed. For direct 100% for sure bolt in, find true 525 shifter and cables though.
I assume you can port the head, since you're asking for +1mm valves....can you change the cam?
i have them, just been swamped but can remove them from my 84 525 5spd laser if you need them and can wait til i have a few hrs to do it
