Has anyone removed the front sway bar and found that it helped the 60' times?
Has anyone removed the front sway bar and found that it helped the 60' times?
Yes and not yet.
What I found was that it made the front end sloppy. I think Chrysler used the bind of the swaybar to hold everything together. Without it, the slop of the front control arms made the car squirrely down the track.
So, I also put in spherical bearings (dual pivot control arms). But, I haven't got the alignment dialed in properly yet to tell if all of this will result in better 60's times...
I've run both with and without and honestly could not tell the difference.
adding spherical rod ends to my sway bar makes the car spin both tires equally without an LSD, even in the corners it'll light both up. At the track on street tires I bettered my best 60ft by .1 but it also had spherical bearings in the a-arms too. But the sway bar gains I mentioned happened as well when I swapped it over to a stock a-arm setup with an Automatic car as well. Anything you can do to eliminate the bind of the suspension will help. I was skeptical about the idea of suspension bind at 1st but after doing all the mods I am a total believer. I can put one tire on gravel and one on pavement and both spin equally.
Thanks for the pictures. Does that change the mounted at ease load tension from stock? Looks like it would change the pressure on the control arms.
Where did you purchase the rod end link from? / What size is the shank?
You can get end links like that from the parts store as well. They are constructed like an outer tie-rod end. 1991 Nissan Sentra with a 1.6L, front sway bar end link.

That's just plain cool!!!
Thanks! I found a lead on a couple here locally. Found the spherical rod links in the McMaster-Carr catalog, but these sway bar links are considerably cheaper.
