    Oxygen Sensor Connector Replacement

My 89 Shadow 2.5l TI died out on me the other day and it popped a code 54. I checked the HEP wires and connectors and they look good, so I did some research and found that a shorted out oxygen sensor signal wire will also cause a code 54. When I checked the connector I found that it's all melted like it was sitting on the exhaust manifold. I can't find the harness side of the connector, are there any other options other than trying to find one in a junkyard?

    Thanks for looking.

Just rewired one yesterday. Really simple if you can solder. Just pull the rubber cap off then take a small pick abs pretty the plastic locks on the pins away then pull the wire out. Break the pin off and solder the wire back to it where it is good

    Re: Oxygen Sensor Connector

In the 'connectors' thread there are some options given. You can buy contacts albeit a bit pricey for the old connector via Dorman if your connector is otherwise solid. Or what I would strongly consider for a number of reasons, move to a newer sensor and connector configuration that is still well supported and not obsolete like the old ones are.

The car has a 4 pin oxygen sensor in it, so what kind of sensor would be compatible with the stock computer?

    Re: Oxygen Sensor Connector

Weatherpack will certainly work but there not a direct plug in for the original 4 wire sensor.

In the connectors thread there was mention of using an upstream sensor from something like the SRT-4 or even just a regular 2.4. The operating parameters should in all reality be identical.

    Re: Oxygen Sensor Connector

Any 4 pin connector will work, but hitting up a junkyard and finding a sealed male and female will be the easiest route. I would just find the proper harness side and buy a new oxygen sensor.
