Well been going through alot trying to get this motor to run right. Parts are scarce if not obsolete. Love this thing and am wondering what new motors will work with Ca. Smog... Must I import? Meaning Honda, Toyota....

Wow...there is a fella on this board from Cali who swapped in a later model Dodge T III engine into his Rampage, and "the man" gave him all kinds of hassles. I can only imagine what they would do if you put an import engine in....!
You could do an import engine by swapping EVERYTHING from the donor car in, engine controls, evap, exhaust. Then you go see the BAR judge and see if they will humor you.. IIRC there was a guy with a volkswagen van powered by a LHS motor posting on this forum who was going to do just that.

Get the H*ll out of Commifornia, so you don't have to worry about it???
Sorry, probably not real helpful... But I wouldn't live in a state that I can't modify my cars in... Winters may suck in Indiana, but at least I can mod my car to my hearts content...

SRT4 would be the same BAR deal as a Honda motor.. everything down to the gas tank would need to be swapped over to be technically legal.. might be able squeak by visual with a turbo 8v if it looked similar enough to stock. Or theres a chance something more modern would get by visual if it has patina and you get the right guy looking at it.
