    2005 pt gt

I'm going to look at a 2005 PT GT with 80K miles on it tomorrow morning. It's a 5-speed model.

Anything in particular I should check for while I'm looking at it? Anything I should know about owning one? I've been without boost for quite some time so I'm excited at the possibility of having it again so I know I'll get excited and look over important things.

They are a bit on the portly side, and MPGs ain't that great. But they are fun cars, and there are tons of parts available due to the Neon SRT4.

22mpg was all I manage to get on the highway.

At 80k, timing belt/waterpump/seal/engine mounts/etc job is coming up quickly.

I've seen some cool upgrades done with SRT4 stuff. I might do that later on, right now I'm looking for something fun, reliable, and quick.

I've got the timing belt/waterpump job factored into the purchase price. Right now I'm getting 17MPG in my Minivan driving 50 miles a day, so 22 is way better than I'm currently getting. Not the 45 I was getting in my Neon, but I'll take a turbo car over a non-turbo car any day of the week.

I hear ya about the fun of rocking a turbo car as a daily driver. I'm hoping to step into a Spirit R/T soon as a daily so I can retire my 160+ thousand mile Cavalier.

    Interesting
I regularly get 25-27 mpg on my Stage 2 SRT 4
That's just commuting to and from work, little spirited driving
How much does a PT weight?

Here's my last three years worth of cars breakdown. It's depressing.

    1999 GMC Jimmy ZR2 - 2 door 5 speed manual transmission
    2003 Nissan 350z - 6 speed manual transmission
    2005 Jeep Liberty - Automatic
1988 Plymouth Caravelle - NA 4 door automatic
2003 Pontiac Grand Am SE 4 door automatic
2003 Dodge Stratus RT - 2 door 5 speed manual
    2005 Kia Sedona - 5 door automatic

It's time for some fun, there's been little to no fun since my 350z.

The SRT4 weighs in at 2,900lbs. The PT GT weighs in at 3,123lbs. Those weights are according to Wikipedia. I've read other reports that the PT is closer to 3,500. I'll weight it at my father in laws scales if I buy it and report back.

Heh, I hear ya. I also have an 04 Ram SRT 10 and an 06
heavily modded GTO, the Ram gets about 10 mpg and the GTO about 15 mpg the way I drive them, so a turbo 4 cyl will be a welcome addition to my fleet.

So, how did she run on the way home yesterday?

Great! I drove her around town and took her to my friends house roughly 40 miles away and she did great the entire time. I had forgotten how much fun it was to drive a car with boost. Passing people was no longer a guessing game of "am I going to die in a fiery head on collision today?"

Now it's just time to debadge her (remove everything except GT and Turbo on the rear hatch) and figure out a name for her.

I just filled up my second tank since purchasing it and I got 26.5MPG on the first tank and 27.6MPG on the second!

    Re: 2005 pt gt

My old neighbor had a PT turbo auto
I told him about the Diablosport tuner, he ordered one the next day
Couldn't wipe the smile off that guys face for months

I was gonna call BS about the SRT weight, mine weighed 3080(but then I remembered I was in it, and I weigh 180)
    Dead on
