Tire size for 89 CSX

Since 225/50 15s are now a thing of the past what's everyone running for tires? Will 205/60s or even 215/60s fit okay? I'm leary of going bigger because years ago when I bought my CSX it needed tires and I had a set of 16" pumpers off a daytona that had good tires. I put them on but when I set the car back on the ground they were almost rubbing the fenders. But that was a long time ago and I can't remember what size those tires were. I've ran 205/60 15s on my 88 shadow that has 87 Daytona Shelby Z springs with no issues but the CSX sits a little lower. I'd like to go with the 215s since they are a hair wider, but they are also a hair taller.

205/60r15 will fit with no problems. Do you plan to see a lot of rain or DD the car? If not there are a couple of 225/50r15 options and also a couple of 225/45r15s last I looked.

I'd love to run those nittos but can't afford them. My buddy runs them on his EVO and them mixed with AWD is amazing. I'm going to go with ohtsu 6000's. I can buy them in 205/60 locally for $50 a tire. They are rebadged falken 512's.

I'm running 225/50R16. Had scored some Monroe Formula GP's which make running the tires easier. Rolling the front fenders would give more breathing room for the tires, but they work great unless on REALLY bumpy roads.

Probably. I am not sure that you would notice too much of a difference with a 6" wheel though. I would probably stick with the 205.

I'm going to put them on 6.5 crabs, not that the .5 makes a huge difference.

I think the difference is pretty important when going up in size moderately like we're talking about here.

Actual tread width on the high profile tires is less. The width is gained in sidewall, not tread

What about 205/55-15? You have some high performance and summer tires in that range and they fit 6.5 crabs.
