    Ohtsu tires?

Anyone ran these? They are made by falken and the FP6000 is the same tread pattern as the ziek 512's. I'm thinking of picking up a set in the 205/60 15 flavor for my shadow. It has 225/50 512's on it now and I've been happy with them.

    Re: Ohtsu tires?

I'm running them on the wife's car. I had the falken's on it and when I went to replace them they were no longer available. I'm not sure the compound is the same, but the tread is identical for sure.

225/60r15, nice! Not many options in that size now. All the Kumhos are gone.

I have these on my 99 legacy gt and they aren't bad. But, they weren't that great in snow.

That's generally true of most "all season" performance tires.

    Re: Ohtsu tires?

My mom got some 225/50/17s from Discount a few months ago. They are not concentric to the rim. Lots of runout, causing an intermittent vibration.

I suggested she try to get them warrantied but i doubt it will happen unless i go up there and push it myself.

I would buy these if I were still delivering pizza. They are probably a great buy for the money. Anymore I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for as far as tires. All the Kumhos I have tried to save money on in the past really kind of just sucked. I'm planning on getting some Michelin Pilot Super Sports next to see if that theory holds true.

    Re: Ohtsu tires?

Michelin pilots cost money for a reason!

So far i am pretty annoyed with these two Ohtsu tires (the ones that look like an old falken 512). Tire not being concentric to the rim smacks of low quality. Not sure i would give them another chance, although it wouldn't stop me from trying any number of other off-brands.

    Re: Ohtsu tires?

They don't have the best reviews. But any stick/T2 car even lightly modded just eats tires. My driving style doesn't help lol. I'm buying them locally so if I have one out of round ill be taking it back.

You can get Direzza DZ102s in 205/55R15 size. Same diameter as a 225/50 and they are a summer tire. They are around 80 a piece though.

    Re: Ohtsu tires?

I have had a lot of cheap chinese and other southeast asain made tires that no matter what you did, they had a vibration. They always seem to need more weight to balance. We put a lot of uniroyals (owned by michelin but made in china), hurcules/ironmans, and GT radials on used car trade ins. Then again I have had some good tires like BFG's and goodyears have chronic vibrations as well. Goodyears especially. The eagle LS2 my patriot has and avengers/200's came with are absolute garbage.

    Re: Ohtsu tires?

LS2's have always been. Wish Goodyear would make a better replacement for them. Well they kinda do, the assurance tires are good, but aren't performance oriented. I still love the triple treads on my 88.

    Re: Ohtsu tires?

Last set of Michelin Latitude Sport VR 275/55/19 I put on my E Sport are nice and quiet, smooth riding, stick like glue but wear like butter If I get 25K miles out of them I'll be shocked. At $422/ea they are not exactly a bargain but I kinda shot myself in the foot on that size, not much out there in that flavor.

I really like Kumho but you are ruining this Ohtsu thing for me before I try it
