Spirit R/T arm rest

So the center arm rest in the car is flimsy. When I first got the car I thought maybe that's just the way they are, but after sitting in a Spirit in the JY that had a center armrest that was solid when down I know there is something wrong with mine. Is there a fix or anything to keep it from sagging and hitting the plastic when you actually rest your arm on it? I tried looking, but I couldn't see anything obvious.

Yes they can be repaired, remove the arm rest then remove the cloth cover. The plastic spine is what has broken, i repaired the one in my '91 Spirit RT.
